Closing the voluntary intoxication loophole is about protecting survivors who were preyed on while intoxicated & vulnerable.

We just passed my bill in the Senate. I'm urging the Assembly to stand in solidarity with survivors and bring this bill to the floor before gaveling out.

Not supporting the survivor is supporting the abuser. There is no “staying neutral” when it comes to sexual assault.

Nearly 10% of survivors who report sexual violence to their school will drop out.

This is known as ‘constructive expulsion.’ Simply put, it means that even though a school didn’t formally dismiss a student, they made it impossible for them to stay.

When you discredit survivors, it’s highly likely that you are discrediting a loved one in your life.

Do better by survivors and start uplifting their voices, not silencing them.

To survivors: you are seen, you are heard, and you are loved.

Stop shaming survivors. The shame is on the abuser, the justice system that convicts only 0.6% of abusers, and the bystanders who don’t stand up against sexual violence. But the shame is NEVER on the survivor, and it’s time we stop letting people act like it is.

If a partner has given consent to sexual activity in the past, this does not apply to current or future interactions. Someone having consensual sexual activity with someone else doesn’t negate their past trauma.
