The bar for Christian leaders is HIGH, but Scripture also gave us a bit of a cheat code for every single one:

I remember how confident some of my progressive friends were that once the older generation of conservative theologians died, it would be their moment to rise.
They failed to realize that every generation has buried its truth-tellers. But no one has ever buried the Truth.

Being incredibly anointed for ministry and untrained in leadership is a recipe for abuse. The anointed leader leads by the strength of his gifting and personality, not proven leadership principles. The sheep are inclined to follow him because of the gift of God on his life, despite questionable leadership practices.
