moscow is awfully uncreative. in the last one hundred years #russianColonialism has been using the same invasion and occupation tactic over and over and over again. thread.
To onlookers at Disneyland Paris, he was just another grumpy father, dragged from queue to queue, waiting for hours to get on rides.
In reality, the grouchy dad in Minnie Mouse ears was a Russian tech boss, whose software is being used by military cadets in training to join Vladimir Putin’s killer drone force.
My last investigation for @theipaper exposes the Russian tech bosses travelling freely across Europe, while their software teaches school children how to fly drones.

🚨 A devastating report reveals that Earth lost half of its wild animal populations in just 40 years, driven by unsustainable human consumption and habitat destruction.
A critical report by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) and the Zoological Society of London has delivered a stark wake-up call, revealing that global wildlife populations plummeted by 50% between 1970 and 2010.
By tracking 10,000 distinct populations across 3,000 species, researchers created the Living Planet Index to measure the catastrophic scale of human impact on the natural world.
Freshwater ecosystems suffered the most devastating blow, with animal numbers crashing by 75% due to severe pollution, excessive water extraction, and river fragmentation by dams. Land and marine species have fared similarly poorly, with both groups seeing their populations tumble by 40% as habitats are cleared and species are overexploited for food.
The biodiversity crisis is fundamentally fueled by humanity's swelling ecological footprint, with global consumption rates requiring 1.5 Earths to sustainably support our current lifestyle.
However, this resource strain is heavily skewed; the report highlights that it would take four planet Earths to sustain the average consumption level of a United States resident, and 2.5 Earths for the United Kingdom [1]. While wealthier countries may point to local conservation gains, researchers warn they are simply outsourcing ecological damage by importing goods tied to deforestation and habitat loss in developing nations.
To curb this decline, experts insist on an immediate global pivot toward sustainable food production, resource equity, and aggressive habitat protection.

I cringe every time I hear "Ukraine and russia exchanged attacks overnight."
Ukraine strikes military targets. russia strikes apartment buildings, hospitals, and civilians.
These are not equivalent actions. And they should not be reported as if they are.
According to latest reports, ALL bridges into Crimea have now been hit.
After the Chonhar and Henichesk bridges were hit earlier this week, last night bridges in Armiansk and Krasnoperekopsk were reportedly hit as well.
Wait until you see what's coming next.👀🍿
A couple of notable dates:
Russia's 3-day Special Military Operation has now lasted longer than the 1st World War.
It's also 3 years this week since Russia almost certainly destroyed the Kakhovka Dam in occupied Kherson region, killing an unknown number of Ukrainians.
Near the end of y'day's thread I wrote about the attack on occupied Mariupol. We now know it was a big one!
Ukraine says the port can't now be used.
4x electrical substations were hit plus fuel tanks, a control tower, a repair base and another shadow fleet tanker "Lady Augusta"
Pope Leo visited the Sagrada Família in Barcelona this evening, celebrating Mass and blessing the newly completed central tower.
Gaudí, a Catalan architect, devoted the final years of his life entirely to the design and construction of La Sagrada Família.
He created one of the most distinctive and ambitious buildings in the world, knowing he would never see it finished. He is buried in the crypt beneath the basilica.
Construction began in 1882 and, more than 140 years later, it continues.
Protesters are noticing extremely young ICE agents at Delaney Hall who look like they’re barely legal if that. A couple didn’t look older than 14 years old and someone there asked if it was bring your child to wotk day. Are they really this desperate for help.
A Ukrainian child disappears from occupied Mariupol.
Years later, he appears on russian television wearing a naval cadet uniform beneath a russian flag.
The theft, deportation, and forced russification of Ukrainian children is one of russia’s war crimes and one of the clearest examples of its genocidal campaign against Ukraine.
BREAKING: Explosions have been reported in multiple areas across Iran, with Iranian air-defense systems reportedly activated in response.
Early reports indicate activity in Tehran, Mohr, and Kish Island as a new wave of strikes may be underway.
"We are honoured our Founder and Patron has been recognised in the @TIME 100 Sports list.
Thank you to TIME for shining a light on the work of the #InvictusGames Foundation and the extraordinary community behind it.
Sport has the power to change lives and, in some cases, to save them. Through the work of the Invictus Games Foundation, wounded, injured and sick service personnel and veterans rediscover purpose, rebuild confidence and regain a sense of identity.
What began as a belief in the power of sport has grown into a global movement, one that not only supports recovery, but creates community, belonging and hope. It proves every day that sport can restore meaning and, for some, be truly life‑saving.
We are proud of this recognition, but most importantly, we are proud of the Invictus Community, whose resilience and determination inspire everything we do.

@Xenta777 It’s probably better to go to show that you’re a team player. People may not notice your hair as much as you think and those that do might like the new style. Why should your hairdresser decide who you appear with in public?
Why was @PierrePPoilievre absent from Governor General Louise Arbour’s swearing-in today? It wasn't an accidental scheduling conflict—it was a deliberate political snubb.

HE WANTED TO BUILD A PARK, BUT...
Back in 1999, 87 acres of land were donated (nominal fee $10) to the city of Tyler, Texas by a farmer. The sale came with a condition in the deed that it would be used for a community park.
Last year the city sold the land to a data center.
