@Spicxer@JavaTable Uhg. I know several realtors who will request to have the lights moved temporarily so they can sell a particular house. It’s frustrating where the priorities lie.
@Spicxer@JavaTable Sorry for the rant but I’ve fought hard for support to get BGE to fix entire blocks of street lights when groups intentionally take them out, it’s unconscionable for BPD to deny light when needed but then use it for intimidation or not acknowledge it can be harmful😡
@Spicxer@JavaTable I’m not super familiar with NE but a local leader/activist/church rep could ask the people on those blocks how they feel it. I can see where a light could be requested for some circumstances, but it seems more likely a forgotten light or unproductive show of big toys
@Spicxer A few times I’ve shifted them and no one seems to notice. Exactly what crime prevention strategy requires shining 1500 watts into an 8 yo girls bedroom at night? Maybe I should have just borrowed one for that all night event 🤷🏻♀️
@Spicxer I used to buy blackout curtains for some of the girls who lived by semi-permanent towers. The light and buzzing made it hard for them to get a good night’s sleep.
@Spicxer I had to like this tweet then unlike it so I could like it again. victim advocacy in SW Balt made me brush up on my Spanish. Not just victims but many of the resources are Hispanic. But the areas are always stereotyped as segregated & racist working class white.
Haley was an amazing woman with a beautiful spirit. Her family is one of those families that just exudes love & kindness. She touched so many people in her short life. Please consider supporting her family if you can.
Hayley was a Violetville and Morrell Park resident who just passed away from injuries sustained in a road rage incident at I-95 & Russell St. There’s a gofundme fundraiser for Haley’s family, please donate or share the link. #Baltimore

@notDanRadcliffe@Spicxer I think the alley gating & alley greening process was my first lesson in Baltimore regulatory racism. It’s awesome to have green space to play and a gated private alley to chat with neighbors. Everyone should do it, it’s only a few thousand dollars per family zoning approval 🤷🏻♀️
@Spicxer It really is a metaphor. I was in the mall twice, once I was locked in with hundreds of Girl Scouts for an overnight event, (and we decided “never again”). The second time was to get Chinese food after my oldest kiddo met w a Marine recruiter. (Also a “never again” experience)
@PastorHathaway One of the ways to tackle littler is to encourage stewardship of spaces. Anyone and everyone on that corner, block, who drives by that median, should feel they own it. It’s your city, don’t trash it.
