Further question(s): Could this be a fail-able class? What happens if the person is just straight up not a good mentor? What if they fail the class, or their mentees give poor feedback? Would this help weed out future abusive would-be PIs from getting jobs?

Having a good mentor or advisor can just be the luck of the draw. Do you think graduate students and/or faculty should be required to take classes on how to be an effective mentor?
