Hey there! I go by Nat on the internet.
I spent the last decade building games with zero playtesting or release schedules. Now I'm making and releasing one tiny tiny TINY game every day and helping others do the same.

game #13 came from a friend while we were cooking a bit drunk: imagine if the shaker's lid came off and salt dominated our rice bowls. shaking was really hard to make fun. my wife playtested it, and i think it's passably enjoyable for 30 seconds.

for game #12, i added a customer serving motif so you can work out what's best without being told. the customer loves it, but the boss doesn't. i'm also exploring the cartoon side of soundly, and the sfx trend quite whimsical.

for game #11, medical stuff knocked me off the horse for a bit, and this was my first turn getting back on. it's about filling a cup, not too little, not too full, just the perfect amount please. kind of fitting.

for game #10, my wife and i recorded ourselves doing the handshake moves, then i traced over the hands frame by frame to animate them. it took way too long to draw the hands 🙈

for game #9, i was inspired by "smart" kettles, which make you work so hard to get the most simple task done.
as always, the sound effects make it 🫖

for game #8 i tried one of those switch-flipping phone games. it's funny how quickly it balloons into chaos, even though the last level takes four moves.. it reminds me of learning a rubik's cube.
huh, i wonder if you could teach that through a game like this. 🤔

This week we're trying to nail cinematics. Yesterday we added focus and letterboxing, but felt it lacked the dynamics to draw your eyes through the scene. So we're experimenting with a few animations to build interest and help drive the narrative.

With all this talk about shadows, it got me to thinking.. what aspects of visual design do you value most in your favourite pixel art games? Post some examples below!

@McKathlinDev@jonkellerdev Oh nice, that looks great - I reckon you could totally add little shapes in its form if you wanted. Those little rings could instead be tips of bones sticking out, or you could add some right angles that betray the presence of foreign objects inside. 💀
