Joe Mazzulla went long on awards & recognition today.
Asked him about whether he thinks the Coach of the Year award should instead be Organization of the Year:
“If it were Staff of the Year, it's different, if it were Organization of the Year – but at the end of the day, I haven't made one basket all year. Our staff hasn't made a basket. We haven't gotten a block. We haven't ran back on defense. We didn't play in a back-to-back. We didn't have to play hurt. We haven't really done shit. So, if you don't have the guys to be able to put you in position, it doesn't really matter. I’m just grateful – the greatest gift I have is I get to coach a bunch of guys that care about winning and being a part of the culture that we have.”
Michael Jordan on the GOAT conversation:
"The GOAT term is something I'll never get high or low about. It just doesn't exist for me. We all paved the way for Kobe Bryant and LeBron James. I would have loved to play with LeBron and Kobe in my prime."

Shane Kirker of Berne Knox is the best player in Section 2 IMO. He can play at either local D1 Program without question & many others as well. At 6'7 he has the size, skill & hoops IQ to be a good one at the next level. Just my two cents.
From Day 1, the Berne-Knox-Westerlo boys basketball team has been of the mentality, “State championship, or bust.”
But before you can pursue a state title, you gotta get through the section first. The Bulldogs did that yesterday, taking down Stillwater, 54-33, in the Class C final.
Stillwater did its best to take away BKW star Shane Kirker. Still, the future @AF_MBB Falcon accounted for 13 points, and was named tournament MVP. He was one of three Bulldogs to score in double figures. Dayne Coates tallied a game-high 16 and Jayden Buie added 14, all of which came in the first half.
BKW’s state title defense begins Tuesday with a sub-regional matchup against Section 9’s Mount Academy, which will be held at Shen HS. @shane80330@Wrighteous_One@BKWDistrict@Section_2_hoops@Hoops518
Well I suppose I learned last summer that life is short, definitely too short for holding grudges. So when @GamebredFighter said he wanted to sit down and break bread of course I took him up on it. Today he came to Wisconsin, sat down had some dinner and chatted it up. Turns out we have more in common than different 👊👊👊 Felt great to bury the hatchet and make a new friend. Life is too short to hold grudges, bury hatchets and move one with your life. So glad Jorge was able to come to Wisconsin today.
Stillwater made a great run to the final, and put up 12 strong minutes to start in the final. The No. 7 seed, however, only scored eight points in the second half and were outscored 37-12 over the game's last 20 minutes.
Bulldogs' dominated the Wildcats from the end of the first quarter to move on to Monday's Semifinal with a 91-36 win to face Cambridge in Glens Falls. Shane Kirker led the Bulldogs w/ 26, Jayden Buie w/ 22, George Wright w/ 11 and Dayne Coates w/ 9. @TheTG3
The short-handed BKW Bulldogs prevail in OT over Troy 69-68. With Shane Kirker OUT, who would step up and take control of this game?
George Wright (26) and Dayne Coates (22) answered that call as BKW continues to impress. @Wrighteous_One@Section_2_hoops@Sect2BoysHoopNY
In a very physical matchup between the Flying Horses (AA) and the Bulldogs (C) that had to go to overtime where the Bulldogs scratched out a 69-68 win. George Wright w/ 26, Dayne Coates w/ 22, Jayden Buie w/ 8, Blake Terrell w/ 7. @TheTG3
