This is exactly why kids (especially young boys) need PRESENT DADS.

I played the worst basketball game of my life & after my mom said,

"You tried hard Ty, I'm proud of you, you'll get them next time."

My dad said,

"you made one early mistake & hung your head. You let your team down, your coach down, & you let yourself down. If I was you I would be up early practicing tomorrow. I would apologize to your teammates & coach & take ownership. What are you going to do to ensure you don't let yourself down again?"

The next morning I was up at 5am before school practicing. I did take full ownership & promised my team every second I got on the court they would get 100% effort & passion forever from here.

I dropped 34 the next game & we won by 25 on route to winning 13/14 next games.

Dads give us tough love.
We need it.

The world doesn't care about blaming others, victimhood, excuses or feelings.

Present fathers change the world.

Just in case someone asks…

▪️I believe each coach imposes a philosophy of football regardless of what others may name it.

▪️ I believe that triangles and diamonds are fruitful and purposeful whether assigned to one philosophy or another.

▪️ I believe the variety of styles breathes life into competition and diversity within the game is an asset.

▪️ I believe Johan Cruyff and his approach to attacking, dynamic football has inspired me and so many worldwide; so if you ask me which flavor I personally prefer it is teaching/playing football as fluid chess.

▪️ I believe that “panic, boot it and run” football, line drills, and traditional training prejudices significantly the development of intelligence, skill and character in our youth players.

▪️ I believe that sport is much more than a trophy.

▪️I believe that the coaching industry is so deeply rooted in poor pedagogical practices that a respectful and rebellious alternative must be offered so I built the #TOVO Methodology to question the status quo and to serve children better.

▪️I also sincerely believe that if you are inspired by any brand of football and it gives your life energy and excitement, than the beautiful game has yet again served an exhilerating purpose.
