@ErickBoe@DeanBaker13 This list doesn’t really ring true for me. Lots of successful businessmen have failed many times. Trump is a terrible president (and businessman) but the fact he tried starting an NFL competitor etc etc has very little to do with that.
@ValaAfshar Totally agree with the message but the earth was not covered with forests until 385 million years ago, not 4.6 billion. And most forests take <<1000 years to grow back.
@AkaPaulHoward There are already very strict limits on how much cheese we import. I say this as a lover of soft french cheese which I would love to buy more of. We also export about twice as much cheese as we import.
@_Rampage95 @LaszloRealtor See, we’ll just take the fresh soil from ten feet under and grow our crops in that. Fresh new soil should be far more productive than the old topsoil. You make it sound like a huge deal but it’s not.
@Z3219586157 @dwaldenwrites UIUC comp sci is extremely competitive, and it’s ranked #5 in the US. UIUC was one of the original 18 nodes of ARPANET. ILLIAC was the first computer built at any university. The overall selectivity of the school is lower, but their CS is a very prestigious program.
@DrPhiltill The big problem is that humans have never developed closed-loop life support systems which can operate for years at a time without resupply from earth. The technology doesn’t exist, and also has no application on earth where plants and microbes do it for free.
@MrMaxBuilds@Authw8 38% of people on food stamps are employed. Many of the rest are unable to work or are temporarily out of work. Making poor people jump through arbitrary hoops to receive their pittance of state generosity is cruel.
@Glitchingchase1@TheFigen_ Understanding of mathematics beyond secondary school has little to do with performing manual calculations very quickly - we have computers for that! Conceptual understanding and algebraic manipulation are far more important.
Not to rag on this kid. Very impressive addition.
@Glitchingchase1@TheFigen_ For what it's worth I have a degree in physics, rarely used a calculator during class, and I think adding four digit numbers is harmless fun but of dubious practical value.
@SteveMichaelsss@tautologer Not comparable. NPCs in video games act nothing like real people and the gore is extremely tame relative to real life, and you interact via a screen and buttons. Westworld robots are indistinguishable from humans and you interact with them in the real world.
@MrMaxBuilds@Authw8 it's insanely cruel to make people who are by definition poor and struggling complete menial tasks to get their measly welfare support.
@SandyofCthulhu Well they've massively improved AOE2 since 1999. Graphics have been massively upgraded without losing the isometric feel, online multiplayer with competent netcode, dozens of new civs and balance changes, dozens of new campaigns for single player etc etc
@Apple Why does this ad showcase zero of the features mentioned in the copy? It’s someone playing an undemanding skateboard game which would run perfectly on a five year old phone.
