I’m not the first human being, woman, black person or journalist to be told that while doing a job.
My take: Be steady. Stay focused. Remember your purpose. And, always press forward.
We will be stuck in an endless cycle of lockdown/release for next 18 months, if we do not start mass testing, tracing, & isolating those who are carriers of the virus while pursuing rapid research for antiviral treatment or vaccine. This is the message the public needs to hear.
One enormous, major lesson that I hope people realize in this moment:
Resistance to revolutionary policy was never really about a lack of money, or capacity, or logistics.
It was always about power and a lack of political will.
Not sure we've communicated well enough that social distancing interventions will pay dividends in 1-3 weeks. Anything that happens in the next 10 days was already baked in prior to that. A surge in cases now would NOT mean that social distancing isn't working.
@seanjtaylor Lesson; randomize assignment of measurements to points of prob space, w/o respect to confounding vars of each measurement. BUT, *record* all confounding vars of measurement (ie: in HIV paper, the age/gender/SES of “measurement”; interviewer).
