@byu_fq @CFBHome I remember going to the SJSU game in 2015, and the BYU side of the stadium was packed to the nosebleeds. BYU fans probably outnumbered the SJSU fans about 5-1. Same with a basketball game at Santa Clara in 2017. Both sounded like BYU home games.
@deviousduck_ Postseason bans are the dumbest idea ever. You're punishing the players for something that neither they nor their current coaching staff did. How does a postseason ban punish Harbaugh, Stallions, or any of the starters from the 2023 team?
@KIRSoccer@KalanisCalves I think you pointed out the key detail. Lavell coached for almost 30 years, leaving behind a legacy that still stands today. Whittingham is still coaching. Perhaps they'll be on the same level when Whit retires, but right now, it's like the Brady vs Mahomes argument.
@deviousduck_ You could even argue that the "modern era" really began in the 80's, since that's when post season bowl games were used to determine a champion, and when most conferences began adopting a 12-team 2-division format, that is still in use in several conferences today.
@deviousduck_ Honestly, I would argue the modern began in the 1960's when schools could finally flesh out rosters, and model themselves after the newly formed NFL as far as coaching staff, rosters, and depth charts.
Anyone else wishing that they could've given the Orange bowl bid to Oregon last year, so we could've watched two teams that actually wanted to play each other? No way would Dan Lanning have let anyone sit out a chance for revenge against Georgia. That game would've been great.
@BarrettSallee@BetOnline_ag Kalani is to BYU what Harbaugh was to Michigan. Even with some rocky seasons, they never considered letting him go, because he cared too much about the program, and it would be hard to find someone who could truly replace that. That's the story with Kalani.
@BarrettSallee@BetOnline_ag It would literally take BYU posting double digit losses for 2 straight seasons to get Kalani fired. Y'all don't seem to realize that BYU has their guy for now. Kalani's not on the hot seat, but he's got a few coordinators that most definitely are.
@deviousduck_ I'll admit it, Utah is the most likely to make it to the playoffs, and could definitely snag a first-round bye. It's also the most likely to get upset in game one, since the best teams they'll play all season are OK State and Arizona. They play 7 teams that didnt make a bowl game
@deviousduck_ One of them has actually helped a team develop good chemistry as a unit, even if his defenses have been garbage when it matter most. The other showed he can't keep a roster together for more than 1 season. Take your pick.
@deviousduck_ I've heard a rumor that if FSU and Celmson join the Big 12, VA Tech, Virginia, UNC, Duke, Miami, and Louisville may follow. I know this is a total rumor and a bit of a pipe dream, but that league would be DOMINANT in basketball if it happened.
@deviousduck_ And even with him at QB, they can't get past 10 wins. Now, comparing a spread QB to an air raid QB is ridiculous. BYU should have a lot of guys with better paying numbers, since that's been the gameplan for 50 years. But, I still don't have any faith in Utah to win the conference
@deviousduck_@bacon6966 All I'm gonna say is that even BYU was able to successfully bring the heat on Dillon Gabriel last season. It was one of 3 games that saw him pass for under 200 yards, and BYU is not exactly a defensive juggernaut.
@JVR405@BYUfootball Gotta start regularly selling out first. And quite frankly, I would much rather have the stadium experience look and feel a lot nicer before adding more seats. Right now everything under the bleachers just feels naked and unfinished. It feels like a big high school stadium.
@DBPtheJust@deviousduck_ Having a past doesn't mean you're currently relevant. Yale technically has the most college football national championships, but everyone writes them off because those championships were "too long ago". Doesn't change the fact that they have 18 or that they now suck.
