Dumb realization…
The US spends around 1.7 Billion a year on standardized testing…
I can think of numerous ways where 1.7 Billion can be invested to benefit students and help them become functioning members of society.
Year 3 ✅! Can’t wait to go back to 8th grade next year and be Department Chair!
I’ve struggled with classroom management and thinking high ratings on TTESS were impossible for the last 2 years.
This year I blossomed from my admin with TPT strategies and BTC math models!
So excited to be using a student-led data trackers for STAAR review!
We will be doing 8 cambium assessments prior to STAAR. If students meet their growth goal, they’ll get a gold sticker to put by their name!
1 gold sticker = 1 assignment pass or snack
Can’t wait to here the discussions about this tomorrow!
We’re going to be talking about minimum wage needed by state to be able to afford a 2 bedroom place!!!
I created a storybook using ChatGBT, where every mini chapter relates to a day of instruction. Please give it a read and let me know what y’all think!

@EdgewoodLeads When I’m reprimanded or yelled at, I shut down and I’m not open to any feedback. Yes, I need to get over this…
I only mention this because if I feel this way as an adult, the kids are going to have my same reaction and not be open to learning.
@EdgewoodLeads This has been a huge game changer this year. I have one class where it’s consistent redirection, and I’m genuinely going crazy.
I notice when I narrate the good things, more of the kids attempt to be engaged. Yes, there’s that few, but it’s a lot better and I’m less stressed.
It’s been such a payoff. The 6th graders are teaching me things I never thought of.
Many of the kids have said that math is actually easy once you understand what it means. Yes, there’s some big gaps in learning, but I feel like I’m actually better able to make a difference!
@Gonzales_MSMath I want thank you so much for changing my practice of I do, We do, You do and having listed steps.
I stoped doing that this year and have moved to discourse activities with the Desmos curriculum, think-it-up, and thinking classroom!
