HMS Garden

We are developing a native ecosystem in our school courtyard using sustainable gardening practices and native plants.

Our gardeners got a break from gardening today and got to express themselves creatively by painting rocks to place in the garden. Special thanks to @adonroeART for supplying us with some paint and brushes. You “ROCK”! @MarzillierL @HowittMS @nativehabitat1 @DrMcGill519 @hmspta

[PrincipalPena @PrincipalPena]

That’s what it was meant for. Love to see the kids/teachers using it as a learning tool.

I love this model for the elementary grades. I spent a lot of time learning outdoors as a young student and it shaped my love of nature. Scotland eyes outdoor learning as model for reopening of schools https://t.co/ZFVsIoT6b6

This is one of the reasons why we plant native, and the main reason we plant native milkweed (the host plant of the monarch butterfly). Watch this incredible video...

Our Howitt garden is coming alive. I’m optimistic that this is a sign that soon our students and staff will be back as well. We miss you. #DalerStrong #WeAreDalers ⁦@nativehabitat1⁩

[HMS Garden @nativehabitat1]

@PrincipalPena Thank you so much for posting this. I miss the garden and everyone at Howitt. It looks great.

A brilliant way to engage your kids in #science and #nature is through #citizen science. Did you know that your child can take part in studies in their own #backyard, local #park and even from #inside their home? https://t.co/tm7EdQ8Adr @Treesnapapp @MammalWeb @GLOBEatNight

@CaracappaSenora @PrincipalPena @PelechStanley @depierroHMS This is beautiful.

Adding to our January literary theme - Emily Dickinson was not only a poet but she was also an avid gardener. You can visit her beautiful garden in Amherst, MA and read about her gardening life.
