Kaustubh Thirumalai and I were inspired to highlight the accomplishment of @PaleoRoss et al., who’ve put a fresh coral species through its paleo-archive paces: a significant undertaking with a rich scientific history. https://t.co/IgaVsadkkE
@yzhouclimate I second Aidan’s rec. You can get cheap steel toe rubber boots for $30 from places like Amazon. And I think steel toe is usually required for working out on deck, at least when any winches are moving.

@palaeotracers @OcnOgrphr The nice thing is that it can be very obvious when something is wrong. This was a run where I forgot to change the settings between cores and ran more sections than I had depths in the core resulting in this beautiful age model 😂
@palaeotracers @OcnOgrphr I would caution about asking for ages outside the depths that you have 14C dates. It likes to abruptly shift the sed rate from above your deepest 14C date to below that date, when there is no evidence for a sed rate shift.
@PaleoBlueDot Just chatted with Emily, cleaning worked on samples that had been stored for ~6 months but not on samples that had been stored for several years. She mentioned that it looked like the B got deep into the calcite structure for those long exposure samples
