@EdJBenn Yeah in our village, along the hedgerows and edges of the Harpford Common. I think they’re spreading as heard them in more places yesterday… I can start recording them now I know what they are :)

Excitement on the butterfly transect earlier; a Small Pearl-bordered Fritillary, last recorded on the transect 6 years ago (although survey visits have been a bit sporadic in recent years).

'Is that a baby butterfly/moth? Will it grow bigger?'

I love these Ladybird Books, the illustrations by Charles Tunnicliffe are charming. But if his illustrations were true to life, flicking through their pages in 2020 is a stark reminder of what we have lost from our landscape in just 60 years. (THREAD)

It's amazing what you can spot in just 15 minutes. This Silver Y moth emerged out of our mini meadow during my Big Lunchtime #ButterflyCount. He/she was obviously hungry!

Wow why haven’t we done this before! This is the sound of a Nightjar just minutes away from our house on Aylesbeare Common. A magical evening spent listening and watching these mystical birds.
