Louvre jewel thief, if you're reading this I'm free on Thursday night and would like to hang out. Please respond to this and then hang out with me on Thursday night when I’m free.
Pope Leo XIV explains his choice of name:
"... I chose to take the name Leo XIV. There are different reasons for this, but mainly because Pope Leo XIII in his historic Encyclical Rerum Novarum addressed the social question in the context of the first great industrial revolution. In our own day, the Church offers to everyone the treasury of her social teaching in response to another industrial revolution and to developments in the field of artificial intelligence that pose new challenges for the defence of human dignity, justice and labour."
How ironic that the strongman who built a legacy on bypassing due process now wants it for himself – a right that Duterte denied from the thousands brutally slain in his bloody drug war.
You dont understand I have been at this for a decade :)) Like i dont want to cosplay i just wanted to read books and finish my research?? Let people wear flip flops and tank tops to places in the tropics!!
I have always despised dress codes especially in academic settings. When I was in college, @Rizal_Library wouldn’t let you in flip flops or a tank top because it was “unprofessional”. Sends a wrong message about performative respectability.
Sometimes someone will bring up some very specific, contrived situation to explain why respectability in dress is good/ important. But as a whole, when you see how it's wielded in the real world, it's tech CEOs who are celebrated for casual attire, but the poor who are shamed.
In a way, how you choose to clothe yourself speaks about how you value a place/situation. It’s a library. These flipflops shouldn’t be used to judge my morality or my commitment to academic rigor. It’s was just so classist to me
