The corruption line is the one I checked in several places; here’s what the record actually shows.

There are no corruption charges against Naresh Pal Gangwar. No FIR. No chargesheet. No CBI or ED case. No court finding. I looked across multiple reports and found nothing of the kind.

What exists is a political allegation, and it is barely two days old.

Congress leader Pawan Khera alleged that Gangwar's wife, mother and son together received more than ₹1.16 crore in subsidies from the National Horticulture Board while he was Secretary in the Department of Animal Husbandry and Fisheries.

His framing was that the government replaced one official with someone who should himself be under scrutiny.

The same claim was picked up by CPI(M) Rajya Sabha MP John Brittas, who called the appointment a farce. He said the officer's wife, mother and son had drawn over ₹1.16 crore under a National Horticulture Board scheme, tied specifically to cucumber cultivation.

So the opposition leaders are saying this but let's look at what it actually is, because the gap between it and the tweet is wide.

The ₹1.16 crore was reportedly received by three family members, across roughly five years, under a legitimate government scheme called Development of Commercial Horticulture, run by the National Horticulture Board under the Agriculture Ministry.

Now compare that against the tweet's words, severe multi-crore corruption charges against him.

It is not charges. It is an allegation, made by political opponents, the day after his appointment.

It is not against him. The subsidies were drawn by his wife, his mother and his son.

The angle being raised is conflict of interest, that his family benefited from a scheme in the government he serves.

That is a fair question to ask. It is not the same as him personally taking crores.

It is not a proven multi-crore scam. It is a legal subsidy under a real scheme, spread over five years and three people, now being questioned for propriety.

Whether Gangwar had any hand in his family getting it has not been established anywhere.

Now, Khera Ji ran the same playbook in June against a farm subsidy given to a minister's family. It is a running political theme, not a Gangwar-specific proven case.

I want to be clear about why I am splitting hairs on this.

I am not defending Gangwar. If his family cornered public subsidies while he sat in a senior post, that deserves scrutiny, and the opposition is right to ask.

But scrutiny and charges are two different words, and this tweet uses the stronger one when only the weaker one is true.

The government's easiest escape from this whole crisis is to catch the protest saying something false and use it to dismiss everything.

The moment you say a man faces corruption charges when what exists is a two-day-old subsidy allegation against his relatives, you have handed them the exception they can point to.

Please say the accurate version directly.

An officer whose immediate family reportedly drew over a crore in horticulture subsidies has been put in charge of cleaning up an exam system, and the man he replaced was the NTA's own founding chief.

Truth is the only thing in this fight they cannot transfer, arrest, or reshuffle.

Do not spend it cheap.
