🇩🇪 Zverev – withdrew from Hamburg due to lower back issues.

🇧🇷 Fonseca – withdrew from Hamburg due to a right wrist injury.

🇫🇷 Muller – a series of poor showings in recent weeks. Suffers from Crohn’s disease, which can really impact his fitness (exhaustion, dehydration, stomach pain, weight issues) when it flares up.

🇦🇷 JM Cerundolo – withdrew from Geneva last week due to a left hip injury. Although it could very much be precautionary, as he won the Bordeaux Challenger and likely just didn’t want to push himself right before Roland Garros.

🇭🇺 Fucsovics – just 3 clay-court wins this season and withdrew from his last two tournaments in Valencia and Geneva.

🇨🇦 Shapovalov – coming off two very poor showings, received medical attention for his back in a recent match, and withdrew from Hamburg last week.

🇬🇧 Norrie – below-par performance in Geneva where he needed several MTOs for his back.

🇵🇱 Majchrzak – just one match since April due to a knee injury.

🇨🇳 Wu – no matches in May, withdrew from the Bordeaux Challenger a few weeks back. Unfortunately, his body seems made of glass and he’s always questionable in a longer format.

🇭🇷 Prizmic – received an MTO for his right thigh in his last match in Rome and was a late withdrawal from Geneva.

🇺🇸 Fritz – just one match played since late March, in Geneva last week, and understandably looked rusty.

🇰🇿 Shevchenko – retired in his last match in Bordeaux a few weeks back. Although it was a bit mysterious, as no MTO was taken and he was a set and a double break down.

🇨🇦 Diallo – retired in Madrid a month ago due to a lower back injury and withdrew from all events this month.

🇦🇷 Tirante – received an MTO for his left arm in Geneva, which seemingly affected his performance.

🇦🇺 Kokkinakis – just two matches played since the Australian Open in January, both in the Zagreb Challenger, where he also withdrew from the event after two wins in qualifying.

🇪🇸 Carreno Busta – withdrew from the QF in Valencia a few weeks back due to a right shoulder injury.

🇺🇸 Opelka – retired in Madrid a month ago due to a right shoulder injury and withdrew from all events this month.

🇫🇷 Mannarino – just allergic to clay :)

🇨🇿 Machac – withdrew from Rome due to a virus and then skipped Hamburg for the same reason.

🇧🇪 Bergs – withdrew from Hamburg with a right elbow injury.

Jaime Faria es uno de los jugadores más inestables de todo el circuito, hoy perdió el primer set 6-4 contra un Harris que estaba completamente cojo, por regalar su saque con 2 errores no forzados y una doble falta. Y le costó romperle, el sudafricano a base de saques le complicó mucho la vida.

Hurkacz es ese perfil de tenista al que no puedes conceder ni 1 centímetro en estas pistas, porque si dudas en algún juego al saque significa perder casi 100% ese set. El servicio del polaco va a ser bastante difícil de restar para Faria, y veo muy complicado que el portugués no tenga algún momento de desconexión de los que habitúa a tener en todos sus partidos… y ahí un ‘servebot’ como Hubi es letal.

Las casas ven más probable 1 set de Faria que 2-0 de Hurkacz y eso es completamente absurdo, en absoluto es así. Faria para ganar 1 set va a tener que jugar un partido perfecto y sin desconexiones, y además tener suerte de cara en los momentos clave. Lo cual veo bastante improbable que suceda.

Hurkacz lleva 1/16 sets ganados en sus últimos partidos, todos en pista rápida.

En 2025 tuvo muchos problemas físicos, incluida una lesión en la espalda por la que se retiró de varios torneos y también una cirugía artroscópica de rodilla en Julio, por la que estuvo fuera de pistas más de 6 meses. Volvió en Enero y ‘engañó’ con su nivel en la United Cup, pero creo que estuvo influenciado por no ser un torneo ‘serio’, en los torneos ‘de verdad’ ha quedado claro que no está recuperado. Ahora, en una arcilla tan lenta como Montecarlo, su estilo de juego pierde mucha efectividad. Con el físico tan limitado, el escaso ritmo que lleva y no jugar en arcilla desde hace más de 1 año veo muy difícil que sea capaz de construir un partido con la suficiente solidez y paciencia para ganar a un tipo tan duro como Darderi.

Darderi ya ha salido campeón ATP sobre arcilla este año, en Santiago. Además de hacer final en Buenos Aires y también jugar en Marrakech esta semana, para hacer la transición hard-clay tras Indian Wells y Miami.
