A statistic that really gained my attention is that in the USA, only 6% of physicians graduate with training in nutrition! With the rate of obesity in kids on the rise, I really thought that more physicians would feel the need to get training in the nutrition field! #HKR1000
@sarah_moore13 I was also surprised when I saw this in the Food Matters video. I knew that vitamins were essential to have in our diets but I never knew they can both treat and prevent illnesses! Learning this really makes me want to ensure I consume the proper amount of each vitamin! #HKR1000
@hkr1000MUN I was also extremely surprised to learn the negative impacts of steaming vegetables! I've personally always prepared them this way without knowing that it depleted it's nutritional value. Now knowing that consuming raw vegetables is a healthier option, makes me rethink how I eat!
Watching Food Matters in my #HKR1000 class taught me that our body reacts to cooked foods as if they're a toxin whereas raw foods are not treated this way. This shows me how important it is to implement fresh fruits and vegetables into our diets to maximize nutrition and health!
65.08% of my #HKR1000 class engage in regular physical activity to build and maintain strength. I believe this number should be higher; daily physical activity boost energy levels, reduce heart attack risk and reduce stress! Positively contributing to physical and mental health!
Being environmentally active and reducing hazards that negatively impact the environment is a great life practice! An astonishing 86.67% of my #HKR1000 class recycles in order to minimize the negative impact on the environment! This health benefits for everyone in the community!
@laurenvclarke I agree, eating responsibly is a crucial aspect of maintaining a strong overall wellness! Ignoring responsible eating habits can lead to numerous diseases that could be otherwise prevented! #HKR1000
Only 40.95% of my #HKR1000 class belong to groups/clubs. Being apart of a social group can significantly boost someone's mental health because being around people with common interests and having someone to talk to can relieve stress and result in a healthier state of mind!
@sarah_moore13 I most definitely agree! It is vitally important to develop strong, meaningful relationships with people in your life! A strong support system can positively contribute to both your mental and physical health! #HKR1000
