@MikeRogersForMI@GOPSenate As long as you degrade other running mates with fear lingering ads I will NOT vote for you! Instead tell me specifically HOW you will help make things better for people.
I have had numerous constructive meetings with Mr. Blanche and he comes across as decent and capable. I appreciate the trip he made to learn more about Alaska, including our rural areas, and as Acting Attorney General he has made several noteworthy decisions that will benefit our state and the nation.
Ultimately, however, I will oppose his nomination.
The politicization—even weaponization—of the Department did not start with this administration but has accelerated during it. I take issue with the handling of the release of the Epstein files; the sweeping immunity protections granted to the President, his family, and their businesses; the statements that have been made to anti-abortion groups; and the repeated targeting of individuals ranging from former administration staff to sitting U.S. Senators.
I am also keenly aware that the Department’s nearly $2-billion dollar slush fund—which likely would have rewarded January 6 protesters—is only off the table because this nomination is pending and the Senate has leverage. Once we vote, that will end, and there is no telling what the future holds.
The country needs an Attorney General who will check the worst impulses of this administration. I hope Mr. Blanche is able to achieve that, if confirmed, but I simply do not have confidence that will be the case.
@berniemoreno BS! Dems & Reps for decades respected him for his integrity. wasn't until he refused to say and do what Donald Trump wanted that he was suddenly accused of being corrupt, a liar, a fraud, etc. If you think he's one of the bad guys, you've fallen for the con. ~ Via Adam Sank.
Socialist anarchists in America adore Fauci because he achieved their ultimate goal: total and complete control of the American people.
That’s why he’s their hero and why they must never have power in our Republic.
THE TRUTH: Dr. Anthony Fauci led the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases for 40 years. Throughout those decades, he had an impeccable record of integrity, which is why he was trusted by both Democratic and Republican administrations. He is largely credited (along with activists) with the development of life-saving AIDS treatments. It wasn't until he refused to say and do what Donald Trump wanted that he was suddenly accused of being corrupt, a liar, a fraud, etc. If you think he's one of the bad guys, you've fallen for the con. ~Via Adam Sank.
@SenRandPaul This whole “interrogation” was yet another Republican disgrace and farce! I guess we should have listened to Trump instead and drink bleach! What happened to the Republican Party I used to support!
What is happening inside the military with promotions and firings: We have a ton of people who are being removed from promotion lists. They’re being recommended by those in uniform, and they are being stripped out by Pete Hegseth.
Just this year, 40 military officers have been forcibly removed from those promotion lists. Over half of them are either women, or people of color. There seems to be a pointed effort to get rid of people who are not white men who are on the promotion list by merit.
What I am hearing about from folks in uniform is a new secret vetting process where people in the Department of Defense are looking at someone’s social media history. Looking at whether they attended a Pride event or that they posted something on their personal Facebook page about Martin Luther King Day.
I am hearing from a ton of people who have been career military officers who are saying, “look if anyone of color or if every woman is being stripped out of these lists, how am I to understand who and how can get promoted.”
I’m hearing young people, particularly young women and young officers of color, who are saying to me, “I planned to be in the military for 20 or 30 years, but now I feel like there is going to be a ceiling on me succeeding in this institution. No one’s ever going to give me a merit-based promotion and so maybe I’ll retire. Maybe I’ll get out early.”
So, between morale and loss of qualified senior enlisted and senior officers, we are seeing a real change in our military that's affecting things not just at the top level, but also all the way down to our most junior officers. That does not make us safe. We want the military to be the best fighting force it can be, and it can’t do that when its morale is being tested and people are leaving.
@SenJoniErnst Such bs! This whole “interrogation” was a disgrace and a farce by certain Republicans! I guess we should have listened to Trump instead and drink bleach!
