Bednar has one year left on his contract, and I wouldnt be surprised if he got a 1 year extension during this offseason.
But youd have to think, hes got 1-2 years left to win a Cup, otherwise I'm certain hes gone. Clock is ticking hard on this Avs team.
I get its a promotion and all, but this doesnt sit right with me. Bailing with time left on your contract, after building a Cup contender? And to a divison rival? Yeeeeah, peace out man. Not sure why the Avs allowed this too. The NHL is a strange business.

CMac, thank you for 11 seasons of hard work and dedication to our organization and for helping bring another Stanley Cup to Colorado.
We wish you all the best!
The Colorado Avalanche have granted the Nashville Predators permission to speak to GM Chris MacFarland.
@FriedgeHNIC & @PierreVLeBrun were first to report. Iโm hearing the expectation is the deal gets done for MacFarland to go to Nashville.
The NHL Alumni Association is devastated to share that Claude Lemieux has passed away at the age of 60.
Born in Buckingham, Quebec, Claude was selected by the Montreal Canadiens in the second round of the 1983 NHL Entry Draft and would make his NHL debut just a few months later on October 13, 1983 and scored his first career NHL goal on December 4, 1983.
Claude split time between the Canadiens organization and the QMJHL from 1983 to 1985, capturing the Presidentโs Cup with the Verdun Junior Canadiens in 1985 as QMJHL playoff champions, while earning the Guy Lafleur Trophy as Playoff MVP.
The very next season, Claude recorded 10 goals and 16 points in 20 playoff games as he and the Montreal Canadiens won the Stanley Cup. Claude remained with the Canadiens for an additional four seasons before joining the New Jersey Devils ahead of the 1990-91 season.
In 1994-95, his fifth and final season with New Jersey, Claude led the Devils to their first Stanley Cup championship, registering 13 goals in 20 playoff games, taking home the Conn Smythe Trophy as Playoff MVP. As a member of the Colorado Avalanche in 1995-96, Claude was once again an integral part of team history as the Avalanche hoisted Lord Stanleyโs Cup for the very first time in 1996.
Claude played 297 regular-season games in an Avalanche uniform before rejoining the New Jersey Devils in November of 1999, and for a fourth and final time, would be crowned a Stanley Cup champion on June 10, 2000. Claude later played for the Phoenix Coyotes and Dallas Stars before making a comeback with the San Jose Sharks during the 2008-09 season.
Internationally, Claude represented Canada on several occasions, including capturing a gold medal at the 1985 World Junior Hockey Championships and winning the 1987 Canada Cup.
He was loved by his wife and four children, and on behalf of the Lemieux family, we kindly ask that everyone respect their privacy during this difficult time.
Memorial service details to follow.
I feel bad for all the Avs fans who went into this game having faith they could pull this off.
Avs look fucking awful yet again. This their way of saying "fuck you fans".
@meanless0@fatibumu@emre82_1 What major mysteries weren't significant afterwards? Generally curious.
Pinkner only wrote 4 episodes of Lost. I get what you're trying to say though, similar DNA. JJ Abrams/Bad Robot have nothing to do with From though.
32 Thoughts (May 25): There was a report that Nashville is looking to hire Colorado's Chris MacFarland for their vacant GM position.
Elliotte says there has been no permission given to speak to him, no agreement is in place and it isn't as far along as people have suggested. Saying it's a done deal is "way, way, way premature". #Preds #GoAvsGo #NHL
I think this is the first time waking up after an Avs game where im still feeling emotionally distraught. I watched the Avs dark era, but for some reason these losses hit differently.
I dont think I've ever been this disappointed and embarrassed with them before.
