On Kargil Vijay Diwas, July 26, 2026, the 1(K) Naval Unit NCC of Mahatma Gandhi College, organized a tribute program titled "Salute to Kargil Heroes" to honor the bravery and sacrifice of the armed forces during the 1999 Kargil War.

As part of monthly social service activity, cadets of 1(K) Naval Ncc Unit Mahatma Gandhi college donated 60 note books to the students of LP School, Nedumangad on 29 June 2026. The Headmistress, Smt Subha was happy for this gesture and appreciated us .

On the occasion of International Yoga Day 2026, an awareness and yoga session was organized by the NCC Naval Wing. The programme was conducted through an online platform.

The session was led by Ms. Asha R.I, Assistant Professor, Department of Malayalam, Mahatma Gandhi College, and a certified yoga instructor from ATMA Chaitanya Yoga Institute. She emphasized the importance of yoga for health and well-being under the theme"Yoga for Healthy Aging".

As part of the Olympic Forest Drive 2026, the NCC Naval Wing of Mahatma Gandhi College organized a tree-planting programme on the college campus on 19 June 2026. The programme was inaugurated by Prof. Kishore Ram, Principal of the college, by planting a sapling.

As part of the initiative, the cadets planted saplings within the college premises to promote environmental conservation and create awareness about the importance of afforestation.

Mahatma Gandhi College conducted the Census Awareness Quiz Competition, “Our Census, Our Development,” on 17 June 2026. Ms. Arathi P J , 1st year MSc . Physics won First Prize. The programme promoted Census awareness.

Around 60 NCC Naval Wing cadets from various colleges participated in the event. The session was informative and created awareness about the need for coastal resilience and ocean conservation.

On the occasion of World Ocean Day (June 8th),the NCC Naval Wing of Mahatma Gandhi College organized a seminar on “Coastal Resilience”inaugurated by Prof. Kishore Ram, Principal of the college, and led by Dr. Suresh Chandra Kurup,former Associate Professor, Department of Zoology.

Resource person spoke about ocean conservation, the importance of mangrove forests, and measures to protect coastal ecosystems. The programme concluded with a pledge by the resource person and NCC cadets to preserve marine resources.

The seminar was conducted in a highly disciplined and attentive atmosphere, reflecting the true spirit of the NCC. The programme concluded successfully and all cadets were dispersed successfully

On 24th February, on the occasion of Central Excise Day, the Naval NCC Wing organized an insightful seminar on the topic “ Increasing Substance Abuse Among Youth " at the college seminar hall at 1030 hrs.

The session was led by *Shri Shibu P.L*, *Deputy Excise Commissioner,* who elaborately explained the severe consequences and long-term aftereffects of substance abuse. He also shared several real-life experiences from his service, making the session highly thought-provoking

On RandomActsOfKindnessDay, our NCC Naval cadets honored traffic police officers for their dedicated service. To show appreciation for their hard work in challenging weather, cadets organized a water distribution drive, providing 26 bottles of drinking water to those on duty.

As part of the 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram, the Hindi Department of Mahatma Gandhi College, the NCC Army Wing, and the IQAC jointly organized a Vande Mataram singing competition, and the NCC Naval Wing of Mahatma Gandhi College secured first position.
