No candidate has worked as broadly and deeply across all three pillars of the @UN - Peace and security, development, and human rights, as Ambassador Olara Otunnu has for over four decades.
As President of the Security Council in 1981, he devised the confidential straw-ballot system still used today to select the Secretary-General, the “Otunnu Formula.”

#50YearsOfProgress
Meet Lillian Kobusingye Ruhweza, one of FIDA Uganda’s inspiring veterans, whose journey was inspired and nurtured by FIDA Uganda members and the incredible influence of her mother, a teacher with a hearing impairment.
Through their example, Lillian developed a deep passion for standing with women and children, amplifying their voices, and fighting for justice. Her story is a testament to the heart of FIDA’s mission: empowering the vulnerable and championing equality.
As we celebrate 50 years of impact, Lillian invites you to join us at the FIDA@50 Gala Dinner on December 7th @kampalaserena.

Let’s honor the women who’ve paved the way, reflect on our shared victories, and look to the future of advocacy.
This Monday evening at 8 PM on my #AfricanSpeak Spaces-50 Years of @FIDAUganda. I will talk to @miriamatembe & @elayzabeth, two women from different generations to take us through the work of women lawyers in Uganda. Spread the word. Set a reminder. Log on.

E.D of Sonke Gender Justice (@SonkeTogether) Rev. Bafana Khumalo speaks to the impact and potential of the youth in Uganda to bring about change. He states:
"You are the change makers you are not leaders of
tomorrow but of today. You are redefining what is possible. Your choices, your actions, your leadership is seen as a beacon of hope that there is a future for our generation.
I want to assure you of our support. The fact that Uganda is a youthful country is a huge asset.
The question is.. are we investing enough in our young people to derive what we need? Young people are creative and have new ideas that our society needs and will benefit from."

Today, #FIDAUganda staff, senior members and former board chairperson Ms. Eunice Musiime and former leader of opposition Hon Winnie Kiiza visited the ladies detained at Luzira Women's Prison over the #MarchtoParliament protests to offer legal aid, psychosocial support and a self-help kit to support them while in custody.
As FIDA-UGANDA we are working with other legal aid service providers and the wider women's movement to offer the necessary legal services needed at this critical time.
