@tweetessandro I think we're going with a steel French press but we might also do a Bialetti and a frother to replace the espresso machine that's been hiding in the pantry unused for 2 years.
@Rylan345 Yeah, I took a hard look at the Le Creuset ceramic one, but there are some salty reviews on Amazon about build quality and like you said we might just break that one too.
@mbfhunzaker Nice. I have a super off brand ceramic pour over I use when I'm the only one drinking coffee and just need a fix and it pleases me how indestructible and easy to clean it is.
@iChandlerJames I hear good things about aeropress but can you explain why people are so on board with them? Never tried it. It looks like a plastic gidget. What's the appeal vs for eg pour over (which I do when I'm just doing 1 cup for myself in a wonderful, cheap, off brand ceramic piece)
@stan_okl I'm relatively new to my tech job but I enjoy my coworkers and work environment far more than I did as a grad student or postdoc. That's a really low bar so let me rephrase, it's a good job and I like it.
@palewire@geoffhing@karenkho@fishnette@YAN0@cephillips I haven't played with the desktop app yet but if it has git & pip integration and better support for .py than Jupyterlab, I might get onboard. An IDE should also be easier to use across different venvs/to use to manage multiple projects at once.
@palewire@geoffhing@karenkho@fishnette@YAN0@cephillips And, like, lots of people who want a bloat free text editor prefer the one that also has Tetris. At this point where modern editors are concerned I'm just happy if my computer doesn't sound like it's about to take off 5 minutes into an open session.
@palewire@geoffhing@karenkho@fishnette@YAN0@cephillips Some things didn't work right (eg drag and drop to rearrange order of cells) but it required nothing at all, really, to install and configure, once Jupyter was installed. And I believe VS Code has a serviceable terminal/console. Workable one-window solution for teaching, I think
@palewire@geoffhing@karenkho@fishnette@YAN0@cephillips I tried Jupyter Notebook in VS Code (on a Mac) for the first time the other day and it was an absolute delight. I was so pleasantly surprised. I can comfortably recommend it for beginners.
@UChicagoAlumni@OyaTopcuoglu It's nice to hear we're not still implying that I asked the University to ignore my wife's credential. But I still I think I'd like you to pause all communications to me at this time, thanks. Others have said this situation sounds familiar. So, you may hear from us later on.
