Vote for our Families, Farms and Freedom - Vote Whatley!
Roy Cooper is with they/them.
He vetoed a bill to prohibit life altering transgender mutilation surgeries on kids. He put boys in girls’ sports and men in women’s bathrooms.
Cooper doesn’t care about our kids. I will fight for them every single day!
Imagine following nearly 13 million real people for more than 10 years just to see what cholesterol level helps them live the longest. That is exactly what Korean scientists did in a giant 2019 study. They tracked 12.8 million adults who had check-ups between 2001 and 2004, and they kept watching until 2013. More than 694,000 people died during that long stretch.
The results were clear and surprising. Cholesterol and death formed a U-shape. Very low cholesterol was linked to higher death rates. So was very high cholesterol. The sweet spot for the longest life was 210 to 249 mg/dL for most adults. That is higher than many doctors call “ideal.” Younger people had a slightly lower best range, but still not the super-low numbers often pushed today.
Because the study lasted so many years, reverse causality is less likely to explain the low-cholesterol danger. Reverse causality means a hidden illness might lower your cholesterol right before it kills you. With more than a decade of follow-up, early sickness cannot easily account for the extra deaths seen in people who started with low cholesterol. The pattern held across ages and for both men and women.
The huge number of people—almost the entire adult population of a country—makes the findings hard to ignore. Smaller studies can be wrong by chance. This one is massive. It shows that moderately higher total cholesterol, not the lowest possible number, went with the best chance of living longer in this large group.
In short, the biggest study of its kind found that cholesterol levels in the low-to-mid 200s were tied to the longest lives, and the long tracking time makes it tougher to blame the higher death rates at low levels on reverse causality alone.

It is a damn shame that every election cycle I have to go out and beg the GOP in counties to provide their voter guides.
There's no standard format.
There's no standard repository.
There's no single point of contact.
And, yet, Carolina Forward has every county on their website.
I have BEGGED for this for YEARS.
This is a shortsighted leadership issue by the NCGOP.
It's also shameful.
Good Morning,
Please join me for a daily scripture break. Today's format is a little different.
III John 1: 1-12:

As I read this passage of scripture it occurred to me, this passage represents a concise but exemplary portrait of Christian living. Let’s examine this beautiful depiction of pursuing a life of holiness.
Here is a summary of the verses from today's passage. A faithful Christian brother or sister will exhibit the following characteristics.
1. Love for other members of the Body of Christ in the truth. (The phrase “in the truth” means in accordance with the Word of God.)(Verse 1)
2. Pray members of the Body of Christ will enjoy good health, all in life goes well with their brother or sister, and the spiritual health of the fellow believer flourishes. (Verse 2)
3. Celebrate with great joy the faithfulness of members of the Body of Christ AND share this good news with other believers. (Verse 3)
4. Prioritize the well-being and news of members of the Body of Christ growing in the faith - this represents pure joy to you. (Verse 4)
5. Recognize that caring for members of the Body is of great importance even though they are strangers to you. (Verse 5)
6. Others will testify to your love for them. (Verse 6)
7. Let your motivation to act in the Body of Christ be based entirely on your love for our Lord. (Verse 7)
8. Provide hospitality to those who diligently serve the Kingdom of God. (Verse 8)
9. Be alert to identify those with evil motives; those who through their actions act out of pride and divide the Body. (Verse 9)
10. Support the appropriate church leadership when discipline is required within the Body of Christ.(Verse 10)
11. Imitate what is good and reject all that is evil. Imitating what is good is beneficial for the Body of Christ. (Verse 11)
12. When other members of the Body of Christ speak well of you, this is a sign of a faithful brother or sister in Christ.(Verse12)
In many passages in the epistles of Paul, he addresses the good and evil each Christian must navigate in their pursuit of holiness. In times past, today's passage struck me as a picture of perfection. I would sometimes wonder to myself, if everyone isn’t committed to living in this manner then some members would take advantage of other members. Now I can see my jaded cultural biases creeping into my thinking. Saint John is describing to us what being a Christian, a member of the Body of Christ means. This is what it looks like.
In my own life, I have noticed on my Christian journey my desire to benefit the Body of Christ has grown stronger and stronger and so has my understanding. One might ask, then how do I prevent the wolves in sheep’s clothing from taking advantage of me? Prayerfully keep the Body of Christ and the instructions of the Holy Spirit as your top priority and ask the Holy Spirit to guide you in the proper direction when your circumstances are challenging. The love for the Body of Christ grows deeper as your love of the Lord grows deeper.
Read the individual summary of each verse again. It jumps off the page to me. The Apostle John gives us “the perfect depiction of the pinnacle of Christian living.” Not one of these verses encouraged the brethren to prioritize themselves over the Body of Christ. Just as our Savior sacrificed Himself for the Body of Christ we are called to emulate Him with our brothers and sisters. The focus of the author of this passage was in support of the spiritual and physical well-being of the members of the church.
I believe this is the ultimate goal of Christian living: this is what our Lord calls us to do.
Have a blessed day.
Peace and be prepared.
During the “golden age of illustration,” children were depicted with anatomic accuracy that was faithful to the stage of life they were in, and in poses that were natural and believable for a child. Jesse Wilcox Smith, Elsa Beskow and Mary Cassat are examples of artists who did such work and they were able to do so because they not only observed children closely, but also loved them.
However, modern illustrations of children feature joints that don’t articulate–elbows and knees don’t exist– and facial expressions that are emojis rather than anatomically correct changes that belie bone structure and fat distribution underneath.
As a circle with a triangle under it depicts a woman on a bathroom stall, so modern illustrators depict children with large heads, goofy bean mouthed expressions and noodle arms and legs. In essence, children are no longer depicted as human beings but rather emoticons of human beings.
And the reason for this is not merely due to changes in “artistic styles”, but rather the far more oily and avaricious greed of publishers, the sloth and incompetence of modern artists and most heinously, a modern disdain for children.
