We call it Good Friday now but on that day nothing seemed “good”.
It was dark at midday. Jesus had been crucified and was now dead on a cross. All His enemies were celebrating and it seemed Satan had won. But fortunately the story was not over because God WAS NOT FINISHED! 🙏🏽
Dearest Fellow Pastors,
You may very well witness many friends & fellow pastors reject the faith & walk away from Jesus over the next several years. Weep. Grieve. Pray. Then get back to work. The Lord knows His own & will keep them till the end.
Timothy J. Keller, husband, father, grandfather, mentor, friend, pastor, and scholar died this morning at home. Dad waited until he was alone with Mom. She kissed him on the forehead and he breathed his last breath. We take comfort in some of his last words...
Jesus said, “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep." (John 10:11) I recall Dr. John Perkins often saying, "Great leaders are those whose concern for the people far outweigh their own concern." Jesus is the epitome of this kind of leader.
Fathers - Our personal victories become our family’s corporate covering. Every foe we defeat in our own life is one less foe they will have to face in theirs.

I was today years old when I realized that rainbows are circular but we only see half the arc from the ground. This photo was taken by pilot Lloyd J Ferraro from the cockpit of a commercial airplane at 30,000 feet. I guess this means there's no pot of gold anywhere, eh?
The western Christian obsession with ‘Biblical manhood’ and ‘Biblical womanhood’ is a silly distraction from the fact that Jesus ultimately came to teach us how to be human - loving God and loving neighbour.
What people need in preaching ministry is not just good exegesis & theology.
People are looking for a word from someone who has been with God and has journeyed inward to face the demons and struggles that afflict everyone.
And offer a word of hope and liberation out of that.
When we are not engaged in thinking about some definite problem, we usually spend about 95 percent of our time thinking about ourselves.

"Leaders who can't be questioned end up doing questionable things." - @JonAcuff so true and championing a culture in a healthy direction takes courage, humility, and intentionality by all senior leadership.
