I extend my sincere thanks and appreciation to His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al‑Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, and to the members of the Council, for the trust they have placed in me to assume the position of Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates — a great responsibility at a pivotal moment in our country’s history.

I also express my gratitude to Prime Minister Dr. Shaya Mohsin Zindani for his dedicated efforts during his leadership of the Ministry and for the reforms he achieved. This is an occasion to commend the staff of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and our diplomatic missions — whom I am honored to join and work alongside — for the efforts they have exerted under exceptional and difficult circumstances. We will work, in coordination with the political leadership and the government, to improve their conditions and enable them to fulfill their mission.

My colleagues in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and I fully recognize that we face a profound national responsibility in a sensitive phase, and that it is incumbent upon us to employ diplomacy effectively to defend Yemen’s supreme interests, safeguard its sovereignty, territorial integrity, and republican system, and defend the choices of Yemenis and their struggle to restore their state and end the coup of the Houthi terrorist militia — a coup that has brought immense humanitarian suffering, destruction of state institutions, and threats to Yemen’s present and future in an unprecedented manner in its modern history. Our mission is to help restore the state with its legitimate institutions — the sole holder of arms, exercising authority over all its territory, protecting rights and freedoms, preserving the dignity of Yemenis, upholding the rule of law, and ensuring justice and equal citizenship — thereby returning Yemen to the path of security, stability, and development.

The security and stability of Yemen — given its strategic geographic location and its deeply rooted Arab identity — constitute a fundamental pillar for the security, stability, and prosperity of the region. Under no circumstances can Yemen be allowed to become a platform for threatening the security of neighboring countries, harming the interests of brotherly and friendly nations, or endangering maritime security and international trade in the Red Sea and the Bab al‑Mandab Strait in service of Iran’s expansionist project and the ambitions of the Houthi terrorist militia to achieve its political objectives by extorting regional and international stakeholders.

At the Ministry, we will work with utmost diligence and responsibility, under the guidance of the political leadership and with a spirit of teamwork, to mobilize regional and international support, convey the state’s messages, policies, and just causes to the world, and strengthen effective partnerships with brotherly and friendly nations. We will act in complementarity with our Arab neighbors and the Coalition to Support Legitimacy led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which has stood by Yemen out of fraternal bonds and shared destiny across all fields. We will also strive to build balanced relations based on mutual interests, good‑neighborliness, and respect, reflecting Yemen’s civilizational heritage and its commitment to international norms and conventions.

The Yemeni citizen — at home and abroad — will be at the forefront of our diplomatic priorities. My colleagues and I will exert our utmost efforts to enhance consular services, simplify procedures, strengthen communication with Yemeni communities, and benefit from the expertise and competencies of Yemenis abroad. Yemeni expatriates have always been a pillar of support for their homeland in its most difficult times, and they remain partners in building its future, never detached from its concerns and aspirations.

I had the honor of signing the Third Temporary Custodial Agreement between Yemen and the @metmuseum. This agreement follows the first ever voluntary domestic return of Yemeni cultural heritage in the USA to the Government of Yemen.

We hope this achievement inspires others who may possess Yemeni cultural objects that may have been illegally trafficked to come forward in the same spirit of cooperation.
