What other business would be actively persuading people to take their business elsewhere?
Imagine a small business selling a $500 product, but telling the customer to go to a larger competing company to purchase that product instead.
By purchasing the $500 product elsewhere, it would prevent the smaller company from losing money selling it to the customer.
Also, the larger competing company makes a significantly higher profit than the smaller company.
Sounds extremely dumb, right?
It happens multiple times a day owning/operating a small pharmacy.
I refuse to believe that employees at Best Buy would be telling customers to go to Walmart to buy their next TV, but maybe I’m wrong.
If I fill a glp-1 for a patient, any glp-1, why the fuck do I lose significant money on it? Can you stop being crooks plz? Would make thinks a helluva lot better, for everyone. @Humana@ExpressScripts
Take a bow, Bob. Gov Ferguson and Olympia Democrats have turned Washington state into the worst fiscally managed state in the country. Reckless spending, job killing taxes and regulation and now a likely drop in Bond ratings. What’s the plan?

Regardless of politics this should piss off all Washingtonians. The AGs office is there to represent the people and protect the constitution. He did the exact opposite.

@TJMartinell1 with a bombshell report.
@agowa's office literally colluding with Democrats to take away your voice on income tax.
Even worse, Jamie Pedersen wanted to START the income tax at 9.9%.
CC @thehoffather@jasonrantz@BrandiKruse
@SenWarren You’ve never ran a business have you? What did they pay in payroll taxes, state taxes, excise taxes, b&o tax? Income tax is not the whole tax bill. Stop running shakedowns and costing people their jobs.
I've been in tech in the PacNW since the early 90s, working for big companies, and many start ups.
There will never be the equivalent of one of these companies founded, or based in Washington. (founded, maybe. But they won't stay.)
If you're a newbie to the Seattle area, these companies are legends and it's time to get a clue on the history.
Under the new taxation, the founders of these companies would have never successfully grown and collectively hired hundreds of thousands:
Attachmate
WRQ
Microsoft
Amazon
Avalara
Concur (SAP)
McCaw Cellular (Now AT&T wireless)
Expedia
T-Mobile
Aldus (acquired by Adobe)
Immunex
ZymoGenetics
Real Networks
F5
REI
Eddie Bauer
Costco
Zillow
Starbucks
Expediters International
Alaska Airlines
Paccar
Airborne Express
UPS (yes, UPS was founded in Seattle)
Nordstrom
Eagle Hardware (acquired by Lowes)
Blue Origin
Why would a founder of any of these companies start the equivalent of any of these legends if they'd have to give up 10% to the state when they're still in an early stage?
And save me the sanctimonious "paying my fair share" virtue signaling. Grow up.
This is one of the most aggressive tax schemes in the country.
And our once vibrant economy will be relegated to satellite offices and incubator stage companies.
Nice work, Washington!
@jonfavs There's a difference between forcing and asking. Put it to the people for a vote. Most unpopular bill in state history. Not going to be just "millionaire tax", It will expand to everyone. Also raiding $4b from retired police/fire pension. Out of control on spending and taxing
@GovBobFerguson It’s incredible how anti business and anti growth you/your comrades are. If they kept it to only over $1M+ then maybe..but no, they wanted the door left open to eventually impose this on everyone. Right out of 1913s playbook. SBucks making their move.. Expect more
"Millionaire's Tax" is disingenuous political propaganda. It's a fully fledged income tax with all the bureaucratic infrastructure required to administer such a tax.
It just happens to have a temporary 1 million dollar deduction, which can easily be swept away with a simple majority vote. Your party repeatedly refused to bind itself to this income tax applying only to millionaires. Why? Because you've tried to create an progressive income tax in Washington state for decades and that's your goal.
You did all this knowing full well this tax is unconstitutional. Yet you did it anyway because your party has spent years stacking the state supreme court so that it is no longer an independent judicial body but a mere rubber stamp to the legislature. You knew you could rely on this rubber stamp.
Congratulations, you have won. And the losers are the people and economy of Washington state. You have destroyed a century of state tradition and single handedly removed one of our most powerful business advantages for attracting and keeping talent in our state.
