I grow temperate terrestrial orchids from seed. Always looking for legally obtained orchid seed. Interested in these why not join the Hardy Orchid Society
1/ A series of tweets on raising Native Orchids from seed. First, the orchid seeds need to be sterilized and the seed coat is broken down, this helps with germination. In this case, using Domestos diluted 1 part to 9 parts water. It takes about 15 mins for this process to occur
@robhawkes@DaleVince@TiceRichard I have a heat pump dryer. It takes roughly twice as long to dry however I now pay a third of the amount i used to use it. The difference in price to a conventional one paid off in 3.5 years. So over its expected 10 year life I will saved enough in electric cost to pay for it.
@graeme_cobb@olddiesel@staffsbrewery 5.5 miles per kw normal driving and motorway 5 miles. It replaced a 55 plate Toyota Avensis 2.2d about 3 times more efficient that was

And my insurance is only £62 more expensive a year so really happy about that.
@graeme_cobb@olddiesel@staffsbrewery I got myself a 22 plate 27000 miles no down just over 2000 miles, my range when full 198.
That is what I am achieving real world. With air-con on where needed. Motorway driving with air-con, which case it is 172 miles. So very pleased with it.
@graeme_cobb@sarah_go_green@OctopusEnergy Im holding firm on staying with tracker for the time being as few days being over the fixed rate will be okay. Will review again in 2 weeks unless a big spike in the price.
@graeme_cobb@sarah_go_green@OctopusEnergy Wind is not expected to pick until the beginning of Dec, and a cold front is due next week. So price will probably go up in the short term. Europe reserves of gas are near full. Electric tracker is falling for last few days. 1/2
Herminium monorchis, musk orchid. Sown in 2019. Will be trying to hand pollinate, depending on how successful I am I will be donating some of the seed to the @HardyOrchidSoc Seedbank.
@TrisNorton @ehbpollard @ukorchids 🤦♂️Takes more than one year to reach flowering size..
Coincidence that it is about one mile from the Botanical Gardens where they grow orchids?
I know they have fen orchids growing there as part of a reintroduction programme. Do they have other terrestrial orchids?
