Before you talk, you plan.
Before you plan, you understand.
Before you understand, you learn.
So, go and learn first. It's the first step before everything.
I have cleared some of the toughest entrance tests in the country like that for IIT, IIM, IAS. It is not that I was not distracted during studies, but I overcame those distractions.
Small tips on how to overcome distractions and get great focus
A thread🧵
A few hours ago, IAS results were declared in India.
Many dreams were shattered, and a few ‘lives' were made. Indian Media will focus on the latter, not the former.
If you failed the exam or are stressed about the upcoming prelims. Here’s some practical advice that your UPSC coaching centers will never give you.
Life isn’t a zero-sum game.
1. Do NOT drop another year: Out of 1 million who appear for UPSC only around 80 become IAS officers.
For no fault of yours, UPSC is a game of luck - after a point in time. It is a travesty that many Indians are wasting the most productive years of their lives by appearing/reappearing for such exams mindlessly (without any backup plan).
2. There are many ways to contribute to society: If Sunder Pichai had cleared #UPSC - he would be working as a collector in Greater Noida today.
Large scale impact he has created or continues to create is insurmountable to one he could have created while being in the IAS. ❤️
There are great organizations such as FSG, Bridgespan, Dalberg, and BCG doing incredible work in collaboration with the Government of India, and a few state governments.
3. Build Skills: India has changed. We aren’t a 20th-century economy anymore. With the advent of liberalization and the Internet economy - the state control of power shifted from civil servants to specialized professionals.
Former JS of Civil Aviation is an #MBA from IIM A and was a partner at KPMG.
One of the OSDs in the Prime Minister’s office never even appeared for the civil services exam - and started his career as an Intern. There are 100 others like them who are laterally hired and contributing immensely through their work. And this trend will continue to increase.
Don’t let an exam dictate the trajectory of your 20s. The 20s are the most productive years of your lives, and the opportunity cost of revising the UPSC syllabus every year is infinite.
For those who cleared the exam, congratulations! More power to you, your journey has just begun! And for those who couldn’t - write to me. We can plan something better together!

I got paid INR 2,00,000 approx. ($2,500) from ONE client this month.
And spent ONLY 5 hours working on the strategy.
Here’s how to pitch a client the RIGHT way:
Saw a guy at the Airport who had come to pick his mom. He had a bouquet in his hand. As soon as she walked out with a trolley of 3 big bags, he ran up to her, hugged her, she hugged him back.
And then, his friend walked up to him and said "Bhai, vo angle theek nahi aaya reel ke hisaab se. Aunty aap dobara aaoge gate ke ander se chal ke? Aur ho sake to thoda ro dena"
Credit Cards could now go EXTINCT!
Because from now on, we can get CREDIT on UPI as well.
Here's how this disruptive feature can boost the Indian Economy:
Love this. It’s common, mid-week, to feel that you’re falling behind. But there’s always a chance to make a flying leap into first place! https://t.co/vIpJmhzoUs
Our lady rescuers have made the country extremely proud as they volunteered in these difficult circumstances. They received huge appreciation and respect from the local population for their contribution during this calamity
