Today’s House passage of my Nationwide Consumer and Fuel Retailer Choice Act marks a historic win for America’s consumers, farmers, and energy independence.
For over a decade, I have championed nationwide, year-round E15 to end years of patchwork regulations and expand much-needed market access for Nebraska’s biofuels producers.
While I am grateful for the bipartisan support of my colleagues today, I know there is still more work to do. I urge the Senate to take up this bill and send it to President Trump’s desk so he can sign it into law and make nationwide, year-round E15 a reality once and for all.

Today is a good day for all Nebraskans! After years of negotiating, compromising, and fighting, the U.S. House of Representatives approved the year-round sale of E15. While we don't take today's victory lightly, we know there is much more work to be done before this long-fought-for fix is sent to President @realDonaldTrump’s desk to be signed into law. We want to thank @RepAdrianSmith, @USRepMikeFlood, and @RepDonBacon for their support of this legislation. At the same time, we have to specifically highlight the tireless work of @RepAdrianSmith, as he has led the charge on this issue for years. Today we celebrate, but tomorrow we get back to work in moving year-round E15 through the Senate!
Today's announced emergency waiver to allow for the sale of E15 this summer is certainly welcomed news, and we appreciate EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin for again accepting this commonsense waiver. At the same time, our fight to secure a long-term fix to this issue continues. The economic conditions surrounding Nebraska's crop sector remain unbelievably trying, and growth in both domestic and international demand is desperately needed. Passage of Sen. Fischer and Congressman Smith's Nationwide Consumer and Fuel Retailer Choice Act, which permanently allows for the year-round sale of E15, will boost ethanol demand which in turn will help support the bottom lines of Nebraska's farm families and our state's overall economy. Congress must act and act soon!
Good news: The Senate just passed my bill to expedite wildfire disaster assistance.
In times of crisis, Nebraskans deserve relief, not additional burdens. My bill will streamline the recovery process, so we can restore agricultural land more quickly following emergencies like these tragic wildfires.
Nebraska Farm Bureau, and the thousands of farm and ranch families we represent, strongly endorse and support passage of the Farm, Food, and National Security Act of 2026. Food security is an essential component of national security, and without a stable and reliable food supply, our nation is vulnerable to economic instability and geopolitical threats. The Farm, Food, and National Security Act of 2026 recognizes these fundamental connections and makes needed investments in agricultural, conservation, and many other vital programs.
Importantly, the bill also addresses on-going interstate commerce issues which only serve to increase regulatory compliance and food prices and open the United States to substantial international trade compliance liabilities. Lastly, the bill also makes needed regulatory changes that will improve credit opportunities for Nebraska’s beginning farmers and ranchers. We thank Chairman Thompson for this leadership, Nebraska 2nd District Congressman Don Bacon for his work and support and urge all members to vote for passage of this important legislation.
Nebraska's farmers have been anxiously waiting for today's announcement, and we appreciate EPA’s efforts again giving us access to dicamba for over-the-top use on soybeans. Nebraska Farm Bureau has and continues to be a supporter of crop protection product technology, and we thank EPA Administrator Zeldin for his continued support of these technologies. The use of this product has the potential to save Nebraska farmers thousands of dollars due to reduced weed pressure and potential fewer passes with a sprayer. For years, NEFB has supported substantial flexibility when it comes to the use of this important product, and we continue to believe in its safety and effectiveness. Today’s announcement provides Nebraska farmers with needed certainty as they make plans for the 2026 planting season.
For over a year, Nebraska Farm Bureau has been sounding the alarm to senior members of the Trump Administration, including EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin and USDA Secretary Brooke Rollins, on the hassle and overwhelming maintenance and repair costs associated with Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) systems. The actions taken by EPA Administrator Zeldin, both today as well as last year, continue to be music to the ears of our nation's farmers, ranchers, and anyone who operates heavy machinery. We appreciate all this administration's efforts to fully examine and address the many problems surrounding DEF systems. While we also support efforts to keep our air clean and protect human health, it is our hope that further research and a bit of common sense will continue to drive any and all regulatory efforts.
Nebraska’s farm and ranch families believe in the free market and its ability to reward us for our efforts growing the food, feed, and fiber for consumers across the globe. At the same time, our businesses and our profitability are often impacted by things outside of our control including weather, international trade, and government policies both foreign and domestic.
President Trump’s announced plan to provide farmers with a ‘bridge’ payment given the current state of the agricultural economy is truly welcomed by Nebraska’s farmers. At the same time, we remain steadfast in our support for additional policy priorities including advancing @SenatorFischer's and @RepAdrianSmith's efforts to secure access to E15 year-round, and a federal legislative fix to California’s Proposition 12 and Massachusetts’ Question 3, as well as continued work to expand market access both domestically and abroad.
Now perhaps more than ever, Nebraska’s farm and ranch families stand ready to work with President Trump and Nebraska’s congressional delegation to secure these much needed policy victories.
Today’s farm assistance package is welcome news as we work to get the farm economy back on track.
I applaud @POTUS and @SecRollins for stepping up to ensure that America’s ag producers have the support they need to feed and fuel our world.
I look forward to continuing to partner with the administration to expand trade opportunities that will create strong markets for Nebraska’s ag products.
Clean water has and always will be the lifeblood for Nebraska's farmers and ranchers. Nebraska's abundant surface and groundwater resources are vital to the future of our industry and our state. Today's announced Waters of the United States (WOTUS) rule appears to strike the right balance between protecting water quality and private property rights; a balance we've sought for over a decade. We will spend the days ahead thoroughly reviewing the Trump administration's latest WOTUS rule, and plan to again submit substantive comments. It is our hope that this rule will finally put this issue to rest as the near-constant regulatory uncertainty surrounding what falls under the federal government's regulatory jurisdiction must come to an end. However, Nebraska's farm and ranch families will only accept a balanced rule that protects our water resources and still allows them to do what they do best, grow food, fiber, and fuel for our nation and the world.
Nebraska's farmers and ranchers welcome the reopening of the federal government, and want to thank all five members of Nebraska's congressional delegation, @SenatorFischer@SenatorRicketts@USRepMikeFlood@RepDonBacon and @RepAdrianSmith, for their work in securing a deal to end the longest shutdown in U.S. history. Nebraska Farm Bureau has a long legislative to-do list including securing year-round E15, providing a federal fix to unnecessary state animal welfare laws, and securing the financial future of our state's farm and ranch families. It's time to get to work!
@SecRollins@POTUS Nebraska Farm Bureau has advocated for increased transparency in cattle markets for years. Thank you to President Trump and Sec. Rollins for their focus on this issue. We hope any illegal activity, if found, will be prosecuted.
Today's announcement from the Trump Administration that they will be challenging China's failure to follow-through with their commitments under the Phase One Agreement is welcomed news for Nebraska's farmers and ranchers. This is an action we have supported for years, and we are happy to see President Trump hold China accountable. Nebraska's soybean producers were promised an expanded market under the Phase One agreement, and they need that market now more than ever.
I have been in regular contact with the administration to share what Nebraskans already know: heavy-handed government intervention is unwelcome in the cattle market. Cattle producers work tirelessly to feed the world with high-quality, nutritious, and affordable beef, all while dealing with many challenges outside of their control. I am working to empower producers with certainty.
Since hearing the president’s comments suggesting the U.S. would buy beef from Argentina, I’ve been in touch with his administration and my colleagues to seek clarity and express my deep concerns.
I’ve also been sounding the alarm on the bleak state of our ag economy and the negative impacts facing Nebraska’s ag industry—the economic driver of our state.
Bottom line: if the goal is addressing beef prices at the grocery store, this isn’t the way. Right now, government intervention in the beef market will hurt our cattle ranchers. The U.S. has safe, reliable beef, and it is the one bright spot in our struggling ag economy. Nebraska’s ranchers cannot afford to have the rug pulled out from under them when they’re just getting ahead or simply breaking even.
I strongly encourage the Trump administration to focus on trade deals that benefit our ag producers—not imports that will do more harm than good.
