My oncologist told me that chemotherapy was the best option for me since my osteosarcoma hasn’t metastasized yet and we caught it pretty early, so chemo would be the most effective at preventing it from spreading.

I took another round of tests to see if my body was still healthy enough for chemo, and they say I'm ok. But the good news is they did an X-ray to check on my osteosarcoma and they say it improved a little bit! They gave me an X-ray of the before (a) and after (b) chemo

My specific chemo uses antimetabolites (substances that interfere with normal metabolic processes within cells, (usually by combining with enzymes) & antitumor antibiotics that interfere with the DNA inside cells. Which slows/stops cancer cells from growing & multiplying.

For those of you who are asking, chemotherapy is a drug that kills fast-growing cells (tumors) & works through the entire body. Unfortunately, it targets other fast-growing cells like hair, skin, intestine & bone marrow cells. Which explains some of the side effects of chemo

I wish I could've gotten the chemo pill because I wouldn't need to go to the cancer center in the hospital and could just take the pill at home but it costs too much even with my insurance.

I’ve lost most of my hair now, I’m always tired, I’m not really interested in eating anything. Other than that I’m doing okay. The doctor said I might start vomiting & getting fevers during my treatment but I could have tissue damage or heart/kidney problems later on #bald

I'm getting my chemo treatments once a week but I know of a few people in the cancer clinic that get really strong doses every few weeks, I don't know how they do it😬 but there are also others I know who do it every day in small doses and sounds sucky too #fighting

The treatment plan that I chose to go with is chemotherapy infusions, but I don't know if I am getting it through a catheter, port or pump. I'm hoping for the port since it's the smallest and I won't have to be reminded of the IV in my skin 😕🤞

Today I started my treatment! 😀 I am being given chemotherapy to kill the fast-growing cells in my body, which most of the time are going to be the cancer cells.
