Governor Abbott closed out his speech at the Texas GOP convention with a live elephant. It then peed on the floor as it left the room.
The perfect metaphor for the Texas Republican Party.
Trump promised to make IVF free for every American.
Senate Republicans just blocked @SenDuckworth’s bill to provide IVF coverage for our servicemembers.
This is a betrayal of the families who sacrifice for our country.
Platner: There's an old saying, as Maine goes, so goes the nation. If you want to stop, if you want to stop war with Iran and end the forever wars, if you want to give workers the raise they deserve—seniors, the security they worked for—as Maine goes, so goes the nation.
If you want to stop a Trump family slush fund, their ballroom, their deals with Saudi princes and tech oligarchs—as Maine goes, so goes the nation.
BREAKING: Rep. Ted Lieu DESTROYS Trump's Agriculture Secretary over her insane lie that Joe Biden is to blame for the screwworm outbreak — which is a direct result of DOGE cuts!
Democrats are done playing nice with these liars...
"Dear@SecRollins: You keep getting fact checked for your lies," the congressman wrote on X. "It’s your Administration that cut the Screwworm programs. Also, the life cycle of a Screwworm is 14 to 54 days. The trump Administration has been in office over 500 days. If you can’t stop lying, you need to resign."
Lieu was reacting to a video of Rollins insisting that this new screwworm problem traces "back to the last administration" and Biden's nonexistent "open border policy."
This is yet another blatant example of the Trump administration coming into power, breaking something that they don't understand, and then blaming Biden for the consequences. They are pathologically incapable of taking responsibility for any of their blunders.
"Dear @SecRollins: Did the Screwworm come from the trump Administration’s beef import plan with Argentina?" Lieu wrote in a followup post, boosting a report that Trump signed a trade deal with Argentina that permitted "unrestricted beef imports" from that country despite its screwworm problem.
Screwworms, which devour tissue and can kill cattle, have been detected in a growing number of calves in Texas. One case has been discovered in a dog. The pest had been considered eradicated in the United States for decades, but under Elon Musk's tenure at DOGE, the government slashed preventive measures and funding aimed at hampering the spread of the creature.
Before those cuts, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), spent tax dollars on monitoring and containing the spread of screwworm in Central America. It was one of the most worthwhile government investments on the books, because it helped stop destructive outbreaks like the one we're currently witnessing.
"Trump GUTTED funding for screwworm detection and fired 25 percent of workers whose job it was to monitor the disease," Congressman Shri Thanedar wrote on X.
We know who's to blame here and it's not Joe Biden. It's Donald Trump and Elon Musk, ignorant oligarchs who were so hellbent on slashing spending to pay for more tax cuts for the obscenely rich, that they didn't care what they destroyed in the process.
Please ❤️ and share to demand a full investigation into DOGE!
🚨CAUGHT ON TAPE: Mike Johnson PANICS after a recorded conversation is released exposing the House Republican plan to CUT Medicaid, Medicare, AND social security for millions of Americans.
They denied it. The recording just blew up the entire lie. EVERY American should see this.
This is beyond outrageous.
A man caught on video storming the Capitol has no place in a sensitive counterterrorism role at the Pentagon.

Scoop from me and @CarolLeonnig:
Kash Patel fired a group of FBI intelligence analysts Friday over a rescinded 2023 memo citing “radical traditionalist Catholic ideology” that has long been a focus of MAGA activists despite an investigation that found no anti-Catholic bias, three people familiar with the matter told MS Now.
At least five analysts were let go, the sources said. The analysts worked in the FBI’s Richmond office, where the memo originated.
It was titled, “Interest of Racially or Ethnically Motivated Violent Extremists in Radical-Traditionalist Catholic Ideology Almost Certainly Presents New Mitigation Opportunities.”
The memo argued that some white supremacists and racially motivated violent extremists were attempting to recruit a small subset of "radical traditionalist Catholics" and suggested that Catholic congregations could present opportunities for intelligence gathering.
After it became public, then-FBI Director Christopher Wray ordered it withdrawn. He apologized for it in several Congressional hearings, saying it didn’t meet the the FBI’s standards. Then Attorney General Merrick Garland called it “appalling.”
A review in 2024 by the Justice Department’s Inspector General found no evidence of anti-Catholic bias or bad intent on the part of the FBI personnel who prepared the memo. But the IG concluded it suffered from significant analytical problems and poor tradecraft.
Some if the information in the memo came from the Southern Poverty Law Center, an anti-extremist organization that which is now the subject of a deeply controversial fraud indictment.
Republicans and MAGA activists have seized on the memo for years as evidence that the FBI was targeting Catholics, despite the inspector general’s findings.
The FBI declined to comment.
