I don't know why Visual Novels are measured against literature so consistently when its bulk is much more close to stageplay and theatre than the prosaic form. Fans often treat the audiovisual elements as mere companions to the textual dimension of VNs and that can be misleading.

@Simonsayyyyys @caprisongsy imo a big issue is that some writers drop any characterization the moment the romance is confirmed to play into romance trope behavior instead of what the characters would actually act like, both in published and fic. you'll be reading something enticing then bam, lobotomy
