No school ID badge maker? Create a library card with photo in Destiny instead and use it as faculty/student identification. I learned something new and now I'm super popular because I got all the teachers into games for free. ;) #MediaSpecialist#FollettDestiny
@MsRyneReads I think besides coding activities that use language skills, it can support informative writing, such as directions with #Algorithms. You can also compare #Debugging to editing & #Decomposition to summary. #FRIT7234Summer23
Now that #FRIT7234Summer23 is almost over, my goal is to start applying computational thinking to my media center lessons and STEM morning activities. My #1 goal is to teach #Debugging.
@heyitsannierra This is exciting! Are you thinking about using CT to teach lib organization, genre, or digital literacy skills? The possibilities are endless! #FRIT7234Summer23
This is a big deal for global education. The PISA assessment, which ranks national school systems, will begin testing not only computational thinking, but also block-based coding / algorithm design.
Nations that teach computer science will rank higher.

If you think learning #Math, #Patterns, and #Algorithms is boring, you are in for a surprise. You can try to solve the Tower of Hanoi, an ancient puzzle that is great for boosting math and logic skills.

#Patterns are useful in special education as all students benefit from routines. With them, they can predict what will happen and be more likely to succeed. #FRIT7234Summer23
Can educators use abstraction and decomposition to explain to students why learning all the little bits and pieces of a subject is important to the bigger picture? Would they be more invested in learning if they understood this? #FRIT7234Summer23
I've been creating a lot of visual organizers for another class and studying how these can help students receiving special ed. Love when it all comes together! #FRIT7234Summer23
Year 8 using mindmaps in #canva to revise about Computational thinking (decomposition, abstraction, pattern recognition, algorithms, flow charts) #MVS#MVScomputing
I haven't been in a K-12 classroom since high school, but I don't think identifying/correcting errors is taught much outside of peer reviewing writing. I think this is an important yet underrated skill that should be a common part of the curriculum.

@DesireeGon56439 I'm so glad we had the suggestions for how to debug in Chapter 20! Pulling apart the code and testing individually or comparing it to similar codes made the task at hand a lot easier. (Esp. imagining if it were longer code!) #FRIT7234Summer23
@DesireeGon56439 What did you end up selecting as your process? Was it fairly straight forward or did you see yourself requiring more detail that initially anticipated or requiring if/then deviations? #FRIT7234Summer23
What happens when the steps need multiple choices based on criteria? I'm interested in learning more about if/then algorithms after starting my infographic project. #FRIT7234Summer23
