clarification that i’m not talking about unwanted critique of grammar or writing ability. i’m saying that *in my opinion* the attempt to defend fanfic from censorship (good) sometimes leads to fandom discussion of ethics and representation etc being censored themselves (bad, imo)
i get why people are so defensive of fic writers but my hot take is also that if you publicly post something you’ve written it’s open to (mindful) criticism just as much as it’s open to praise and you will actually not ever convince me that it’s automatically bad to discuss that
like. i think this is such a weird and reductive take actually. its ok for people to be uncomfortable or disagree with things and to have discussions about it, especially because this person isn’t just dogging on an author they’re discussing fandom wide perceptions and trends
@fatedfragment like. i don’t think they’re just writing scenes lazily i think they’re making a Point and you just have to be willing to interpret the text a little to get there
@fatedfragment agreed! on first watch i was like what is even happening ?? but when i rewatched i liked it i think it makes a lot of sense as a way to introduce the audience to lestat’s brain lol. i think people will see the vision but i did miss louis and claudia and armand a lot
