Peter Jackson's Weta Digital has been sold for $1.625 billion to the makers of the Unity game engine. The VFX house is responsible for the Oscar-winning effects behind 'Lord of the Rings' and 'Avatar,' and is currently working on the #Avatar sequels https://t.co/a8E1r9P1VQ
i get why understanding asexuality is hard. explaining sexual attraction as being different than sexual desire or interest is hard for others to understand. sexuality isn't about your interest in sex as an act. but being ace means sex might play a different role in our lives.
My endless respect to women & minorities & everyone else speaking up. Please know that what this industry asks of you, of us, is unfair. It’s brutal. It’s absurd. It’s traumatising. You are no less resilient if this hurts. It isn’t weakness if your strength falters. It’s human.
@MADLAD3718@Prowl8413 Thanks! We’ve been splitting our time among many things, no shortage of which are related to PBR thanks to raytracing, and we’re really looking forward to what it means to have those concepts floating around in our engine long-term.
@Prowl8413 In addition to specificity, showing precedent for the community creating lots of value from those smaller features should also get people more excited about it internally. Anything that can be seen as a force multiplier is extra shiny in a game built for player expression!
@fragmites@Prowl8413 You also have the right idea that chunk borders in particular would be more decisions for gameplay than graphics, and actually drawing them is probably one of the easier parts.
@fragmites@Prowl8413 Individual features like that are capable of making it through the feedback process way easier, so I’d definitely encourage creating/ voting for that specific of a request if you want to see it integrated before more open-ended solutions.
@Prowl8413 Choosing to support any custom visuals in add-ons is a commitment to that visual working on all applicable devices (including VR), and for all marketplace content into the future. As cool as fully custom shaders are to have, that’s also a commitment we take seriously. 3/3
@Prowl8413 One reason shader modification has been so relaxed in the past is that they are not technically part of add-ons, and are more of an “implementation detail” for how the previous graphics engine handled cross-platform shaders (or rather, didn’t) 2/3
