@EI_Smart I was so proud to be part of the study day. It is the parents and their insightful narratives of experiences with their infants as well as their discerning questions who really bring the power.
Our R thread was beautifully and powerfully captured by joint presenters Neela Basu psychotherapist and parent Sibylle discussing the importance of Relationships and hearing how early relationships are the scaffold for cognitive, linguistic, emotional and social development.
The wonderful ANNP and parent Leah says ‘let’s incorporate SMART into our systematic review/ward rounds and address the baby’s evolving SMART needs in the same way as we address their medical needs resulting in a holistic, collaborative approach with parents at the centre’.
Don’t miss Dr Anna Basu’s neuroplasticity lecture which will be repeated on our 23 sept study day - ‘What an important presentation! From a parent point of view, neuroplasticity is so important as it ties in with our sense of hope, that we live with every day’. @LdnNeonatal
From a consultant neonatologist after hearing EiSMART’s 27 April study day opening session - ‘This is the best lecture I have ever heard on brain injury in the preterm and term brain’. Dr Angela Huertas + parent power = amazingly informative lecture! @LdnNeonatal@BAPM_Official
Delighted to share a taster of the feedback from the 40+ people at EiSMART study day 27 April - ‘this was an amazing and inspiring day’, ‘so brilliant to have parents co presenting in all sessions’, ‘thank you for the excellent training - this is the best I have ever attended!’
@EI_Smart -Study day was full of impact, evidence based recommendations and creative and innovative thinking, weaving importance of relationships throughout. So glad to be working with this team. Thank you to parents and professionals who work together to make this happen

@NicolaMCosgrave I'm so relieved to link up with other clinicians equally passionate about the needs of 0-4s and families. The conference was hugely rich. Absolutely keen in linking up skills and knowledge across services.
Off to day 2 of this rich and thoughtful conference on under 5s. Today also thinking about families who have experienced the NICU @maudsleylearn@EI_Smart
Great start to our 0 to 4
