> After the 1971 war, R.N. Kao realised India had a major blind spot: it lacked predictive intelligence on the movement of US naval ships and Soviet fleets in the Indian Ocean.

> The KGB had limited capability in the region, while the intelligence agencies of the UK, Canada, Japan and Australia were of limited use because of their close ties with the US.

> Kao therefore approached France’s external intelligence agency, SDECE. He travelled to Paris and quickly hit it off with French spymaster Count Alexandre de Marenches. They agreed to set up a network to collect real time intelligence on US and Soviet ships.

> Marenches then suggested bringing in a third partner, Iran’s SAVAK, which already had a strong relationship with France. Kao personally knew the Shah of Iran and agreed.

The arrangement was simple:

> Iran provided the funding
> France bought the advanced technical equipment
> India provided the trained R&AW manpower to operate the techint stations

the intelligence was shared equally among all three countries.

> Senior R&AW officer B. Raman was sent to Paris to get the operation going. He initially planned to use the cover of an Indian newspaper journalist, but eventually went under diplomatic cover.

Monitoring stations were then established on both the east and west coasts of India.

> The operation ended in 1979, not because it was compromised or failed, but because the Shah was overthrown in the Iranian Revolution and SAVAK ceased to exist.

India is on right path it is taking baby steps for giant leap and learning from it's failure and have you noticed we haven't order F414 engine because of foul play by GE.

@notanidealistic @TheMilObserverr Kaveri is not shelfed it's KDE will be used in Ghatak UCAV and it can also be used for small civilian aircrafts and we have seen HAL HTFE 25 reached it 99.5% Capabilities they are working on HTFE 40 and every other countries have taken some time to built thier own Aero Engines.

When need we should import some and simultaneously work on projects that have failed because we are very infamous for delays in our own indigenous projects.
