@MrLix@Floatymcfloater@DCompanyBookie I know it's hard to comprehend there are multiple steps in a supply chain before a product hits the shelf of a retailer!
@LonelyGoomba@DCompanyBookie 5 million pounds equals to 0.017% of their turnover last year. Also: Retail underlying operating margin was 3.17% in 2025 and 2.43% in 2019. In other words, out of the cumulative ~40-45% food inflation since 2019, Sainsbury's "greed" stands for less than 1%
Engineers spent decades shrinking semiconductor process nodes from around 1,000nm to today’s 2nm class so you could carry absurd amounts of computing power in your pocket.
Software developers responded with megabytes of JavaScript, telemetry trackers, six frameworks, and a loading animation for the login page.
Hardware gives. Software takes away.
@Cartersystem_II@McMfog@hudsonwisler@justsettledownn@SudoBash2 If you owned a factory and a customer pulls up and offered to buy all your production for the next 3 years at triple your usual selling price, would you not take that deal? Would you instead stay selling lower-margin stuff with highly unpredictable demand?
@McMfog@hudsonwisler@Cartersystem_II@justsettledownn@SudoBash2 You know nothing about chip manufacturing. 2nm chips are not the same as outsourcing production of steel to China. There's a reason why the fabless companies are further ahead than eg Intel. Stop repeating bullshit you found on reels and read Chip War instead
@McMfog@hudsonwisler@Cartersystem_II@justsettledownn@SudoBash2 You know that building a leading-edge fab takes 3-5 years and $25B+? Semiconductors are a notoriously boom-bust industry; after the semi boom in 2020-22 it would have been madness to say "you know what guys, I have a feeling it's gonna moon again, let's YOLO and double capacity"
@lmfjcs@woke8yearold The Financial Times wrote a fantastic data analysis about this a few months ago! The smartphone stuff is around halfway through the article. Gift link: https://t.co/LhnCfzPH74
The issue with France is that the government spending is at 57% of GDP, the deficit at 5%, retirement age 64, generous pensions and welfare state yet a huge part of the population thinks France is in the grip of "neoliberalism".
Google replacing those graphs that used to pop up when you would search for a country's GDP, population, or life expectancy with the AI overview has been so irritating to me. I know it's a little thing, but what a downgrade for literally no reason.
Wireless charging was the biggest load of crap ever.
1) It has a wire, the very same wire you could just plug into your device and charge significantly faster.
2) You can't easily use the device whilsts it's charging. As opposed to just holding it with a cable
All around bad
