Through the Resiliency Initiative, our team came together to support students and schools impacted by Hurricane Helene. This week, we began delivering 1,500 backpacks full of essential items to Hamilton, Lafayette, Columbia, and Suwannee counties.

The NEFEC Organization of Education Leaders (NOELs) met on September 12th in Bradford County to kick off the new school year. Discussions took place around legislation, textbook adoption, upcoming professional learning, and other topics of interests.
Professional learning for writing teachers took place last week for NEFEC districts. Seventy teachers from third through tenth grade joined in grade-level sections to analyze the B.E.S.T. communication standards, study the writing rubric, and create model essays.
Paraprofessionals from member districts came together for NEFEC's "Empowering Paraprofessionals: Practical Strategies for Supporting English Language Learners" training. Our dedicated participants dove into hands-on strategies to best support ELL students in their classrooms.

Ten NEFEC districts are among the 23 across Florida partnering with Space Florida to launch the Space Florida Academy Program! This initiative will help equip students with the skills and credentials needed for high-demand careers in the aerospace industry.
