My wife is rightly pissed by headlines like this: “Stephen King and his wife donate $1.25M to New England Historic Genealogical Society.” The gift was her original idea, and she has a name: TABITHA KING. Her response follows.
@SalonAuteur @kaldrenon@MikeGarringer@_alexrowland This trend starts at birth, unfortunately. Have y'all looked at baby /toddler clothes for boys? Same stuff, for decades! Fire engines, dump trucks, sports teams! It's ingrained in us from the start to dress our sons in bland, don't-stand-out from the crowd clothing in blues/grey!
@erinroseglass@madigan Oh yes, please open the Night Library.
I would love to attend the readings, the book clubs, the debates, the language classes, the book swaps, the writing clubs, the speaker workshops. Yes, I would love the Night Library 🕯📖🕯
maybe we wouldn’t be so addicted to these screen things if we had accessible, inviting, and stimulating public spaces to feel seen, connected, included, and nourished?
what if public libraries were open late every night and we could engage in public life there instead of having to choose between drinking at the bar and domestic isolation
