17 houses belonging to the Christian Tripura community in Bandarban, #Bangladesh, were set on fire by unidentified miscreants early on Christmas Eve. The attack happened while the community was away attending Christmas prayers in a neighboring village, as their village lacks a church.

In order to remain a leader in tech and other industries, the US has to gain brains, not drain.
Brain gain should be one of the core objectives, not brain drain.
And I am pretty sure some of the top talent-sourcing nations in the world will soon start implementing large-scale incentive programs for their high-skilled expatriates and talent retention programs.
In addition, as these countries continue reforming policies and building infrastructure, many talented and skilled individuals will choose to stay in their country.
I agree with @elonmusk. Let me make this argument through the lens of countries experiencing brain drain.
Imagine a world where the (a) most talented, (b) highly skilled, and (c) deeply motivated individuals from countries like India, China, and others stayed in their home countries. What kind of progress would these economies have achieved?
China and Hong Kong actively incentivized their talented expatriates to return and build businesses at home. Now, imagine if India rolled out large-scale incentive programs to encourage their skilled expatriates to come back and build startups in India or work for Indian companies.
When these immigrants move to a new country like the US, they often leave behind their families, friends, and loved ones. They leave behind all the cherished memories of growing up in their neighborhoods and schools. It's hard, at least in the first couple of years, to be an immigrant.
In an alternative world, where countries like India launch large-scale incentive programs for their emigrants, it’s likely many would choose to stay in their home country and play for their own national economies, instead of the US economy.
Islamic University in #Bangladesh is now restricting the movement of female students with their new gender biased curfew policy.
Under the new rules, female students must return to their dorms within 15 minutes of Maghrib Azan (around sunset), while male students have the liberty to stay outside of their residential halls until 11 PM.
This is exactly what the so-called "New Bangladesh" looks like where women's freedom and rights are under attack.
I won't dive into many arguments explaining why this policy is sexist and discriminatory on so many levels. Just only one food for thought: what if you are a female student working in an organization/company, building your startup, or just tutoring school students to support your expenses and livelihood? How can you possibly fulfill all your engagements and professional responsibilities by just sunset?

Most countries around the world, including the 🇺🇸 #UnitedStates and 🇧🇩 #Bangladesh, have massive outstanding debt that needs to be repaid sooner or later. If the people of 🇧🇩 elect Awami League again in national polls, I will strongly advocate to the @albd1971 policymakers to make Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies a strategic national reserve to hedge against the risks of devaluation of the Bangladeshi currency, Taka.
Instead of printing more money, the governments of these nations can simply make a strategic reserve composed of cryptos like #Bitcoin. As these digital assets appreciate in value, these governments will be able to service the debt from the gains on these assets.
In this way, citizens will no longer have to bear massive debt burdens through increased taxation.
Oh, the naievity! So much freedom that circulation of 3 newspapers stopped indefinitely? Why are 8 TV stations off-air since Aug 5? Why are female journos getting death threats from Islamists? Why are many journos in hiding? Why are mobs releasing list of journos to attack?
Wow, this is petty! As far as I recall, @drSaimaWazed was not 'made' @WHOSEARO's RD because she was the then #Bangladesh PM's daughter, but was duly elected by member states in an election, beating her Nepalese competitor, fair and square. Only fair that she completes her term!
.@UNHumanRights needs to send a msg to 🇧🇩 interim govt that failure to stop the ongoing communal attacks on #Hindus and revenge attacks on #AwamiLeague people will jeopardise the govt's rights credentials. Having HR lawyers in council not enough unless backed up with actions.
100+ #AwamiLeague linked people killed in #Bangladesh since Aug 5 in indiscriminate reprisal attacks. As more info comes, death-toll would likely increase. However, neither #Yunus-led interim govt nor the #media are highlighting this aspect of the violence which has engulfed 🇧🇩.
New #Bangladesh interim govt. must immediately change newly appointed Attorney-General Md. Asaduzzaman, the #HumanRights Secretary of #BNP. Otherwise, their impartiality and neutrality will be jeopardised. Plenty of good, non-affiliated lawyers in 🇧🇩 Supreme Court to choose from.
Our wants and reality are not the same. The #youths who led the recent movement in #Bangladesh should form their own political party and contest #elections if they don't support any of the parties. Otherwise, they will be in for a shock like the last interim govt of 2007-08.
1/x. Disappointed to see that the top-5 agenda of the Dr. Yunus-led Interim Govt's Law Ministry does not include prosecuting the crimes against #Hindus, killing of #police, reprisals against #AwamiLeague, or destruction of public properties. See news 🔽

A full-fledged campaign against arts and culture is underway in #Bangladesh. Apart from vandalism of statues and murals, @bdnews24com reports Shilpakala Academies (publicly funded cultural centres) have been attacked, vandalised and/or set on fire, and looted in 22 districts.
Terrible news of #Hindus being attacked in #Bangladesh. No one should be targeted because of their religion or belief. The changing political landscape is no excuse.
The government should move swiftly to provide protection for the Hindu community and others at risk. https://t.co/G7476jHloi
