A significant Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) and the Osaka City Environment Bureau, Japan. The agreement was finalized in the esteemed presence of Shri. Siddhesh Ji Kadam (Chairman, MPCB), Shri. M. Devender Singh, IAS (Member Secretary, MPCB) and Mr. Koji Yagi-san (Consul General of Japan in Mumbai).
This collaboration will allow Maharashtra to leverage Japan’s advanced technology and extensive experience in addressing critical issues such as Solid Waste Management, Water Pollution, and Air Pollution control. The primary objective of this friendly cooperation is to make the state cleaner and pollution-free through advanced technical exchange.
The event was attended by Mr. Shunsuke Kawabe (Manager, Environment Bureau, Osaka City Government, Japan), Ms. Akiko Doi (Senior Program Officer, International Cooperation Dept., Global Environment Centre, Japan), Mr. Tomoya Motoda (Senior Program Officer, International Cooperation Dept., Global Environment Centre, Japan), along with Ms. Nakajima Nao, Ms. Chika Kataoka, Mr. Shunichi Honda, Mr. Anshuman Basu, and other senior officials from the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board.

'महाराष्ट्र प्रदूषण नियंत्रण मंडळ' आणि जपानमधील 'ओसाका सिटी एन्व्हायरमेंट ब्युरो' यांच्यात महत्त्वपूर्ण सामंजस्य करार करण्यात आला. महाराष्ट्र प्रदूषण नियंत्रण मंडळाचे अध्यक्ष श्री. सिद्धेश जी कदम, मंडळाचे सदस्य सचिव श्री. एम. देवेंदर जी सिंह (भा.प्र.से.) आणि मुंबईतील जपानचे कॉन्सुलेट जनरल श्री. कोजी यागी- सान जी यांच्या प्रमुख उपस्थितीत हा करार संपन्न झाला.
या करारामुळे घनकचरा व्यवस्थापन, जल प्रदूषण आणि वायू प्रदूषण नियंत्रण यांसारख्या गंभीर समस्यांवर उपाय शोधण्यासाठी जपानच्या तंत्रज्ञानाचा आणि अनुभवाचा महाराष्ट्राला मोठा फायदा होणार आहे. प्रगत तांत्रिक देवाणघेवाण करून राज्याला अधिक स्वच्छ आणि प्रदूषणमुक्त करणे, हे या मैत्रीपूर्ण सहकार्याचे मुख्य उद्दिष्ट आहे.
