First day at Apple!
I’m joining the Swift Playgrounds Content team.
Obviously I can’t visit the office yet so here’s a photo of me back in 2011 when I was at WWDC. I wasn’t a full time iOS developer yet at that point, but knew I wanted to be! Didn’t dream I’d end up at Apple.
@JohnMcS92873401@JohnfaeScotland There are quite a few of this style of bollard around the city already. I don't think there's been an epidemic of injuries but maybe you could send a Freedom of Information request to ask?
Here's a busy pedestrian junction by the Commie with two.
@johnrobson87@edinhelp@CllrBenParker@cllr_jenkinson The school had a site visit there recently with Road Safety Officers where we flagged this for the umpteenth time. No idea why nothing is done about it.
@SheenaNimmo@CllrBenParker@DrScottArthurMP I was amused by that answer about meeting now we are back from summer holidays. We have been asking for a meeting since March, so plenty of time before we broke up for the holidays at the end of June.
@edinhelp hi. Whoever installed the temporary traffic lights at Strathearn Road/Whitehouse Loan have neglected to put a light in for cyclists travelling south to north through the filters. This is dangerous as it's not clear when they can cross.
@owenoo@SheenaNimmo They're crossing the "Give Way" line before it's safe to exit the junction, which means they end up sitting on the pavement. I know it's because of the poor design and more traffic than the design was intended to cope with, but they should still be observing the give way markings
@apple_franca According to the update in https://t.co/tV6KzrDmOm they've bottled it over the £400k option and are now looking at using cheaper materials for now. Will have to revisit when it's made permanent, by which time it'll be over £400k!
@sbarlster @Ken_J_Murray@SpokesLothian Paint has faded away there, it did look like this. Solid white lines means it's mandatory and cars shouldn't enter at all.
@tomasmcguinness Difficult to say exactly as I'm not sure what U-Value of old ones were, especially as they were leaking around the frames - I'd guess about 5-6W/m2K. New ones are 1.4 so should be a substantial difference!
Having this entire window replaced today, which I'm pretty excited about. It's our only single glazed window, absolutely freezing in winter, and none of the windows open any more. Big job though as it's structural.
@SheenaNimmo@edinjoiner@petefyvie The signs are up now but they're not hugely visible and pretty useless anyway, by the time HGVs have seen them it's too late to turn off anywhere else.
@edinjoiner@Harris_Morrison@SheenaNimmo I'd only heard of it because the Braid Bowling Club is owned by the houses in the "Braid Estate" which was originally the houses in the map here. It's still the case that people buying one of those houses can skip the waiting list to join! https://t.co/dQ5H2Yp927
@VerdiMurray@thecockburn The point is that they don't want the £400,000 segregated route. They want the existing (much cheaper) setup to be formalised and strengthened.
