Simply providing equitable access to resources is lazy DEI. True equality requires the participation of a constellation of voices and a supporting context for action. #DEI#inclusion#equality
@suhaniashok@Pentropy@goguardian We still reference your work at GG @suhaniashok! You were a great designer first in your heart before you shared it with us, we were lucky to have you.
For a brief, hot second we had fun configuring towable mini-campers online. Until we realized the cost was more than a dozen post-covid vacations. We can wait. π«π
Every few years I lose sight of, then arrive at the same conclusion: that leading design takes valuable energy away from continuing to grow as a designer. #designleadership#design
People have been solving that problem since before your product came along - don't make the mistake of thinking improving = replacing how they already get things done. #productdesign#designthinking
Surprised a design interview candidate by not asking about their design process up front. I can find that in your portfolio. What I'd rather ask you about is scrappiness, resilience, negotiation, agency, balance, inclusivity, accommodation, advocacy. #ux#uxinterviews
The user experience of *your portfolio* is the first impression reviewers get of your UX ability. So check it with your own users before releasing it. #uxjobs#ux
Leading design is making sure there's more than enough fuel, that it will ignite without burning everything down, lighting that fuse, and jumping quickly out of the way. #designleaders#designleadership
OPTIMISM: (2/2) In this timeline, it's the other way around. The majority actually believe it, and the people hugging their zombie infected friends and family are thankfully in the minority. It makes for a less interesting apocalypse, but yay humanity.
OPTIMISM: (1/2) I honestly did not think humanity would get this far with a global pandemic. Most zombie apocalypse scenarios end with a small, scrappy group of survivors as the majority refuses to believe it.
Reviewing portfolios today - lots to go through. I've probably seen hundreds over the last 10-15 years and I've saved some great examples of good and bad ones. I can group them into themes without oversharing - maybe I'll put together a comparison of trends from 2010 to today.
