The "Constitutional Republic vs. Democracy" debate is nothing more than a word game. Yes, the U.S. is a constitutional republic, but that doesn't mean it isn't also a democracy. Our Founding Fathers often used the term democracy to describe the system they were establishing.

James Madison himself referred to the U.S. as a "representative democracy" in Federalist No. 10. Thomas Jefferson, in a letter to John Taylor in 1816, said, “The introduction of this new principle of representative democracy has rendered useless most of the oppressive powers of the monarchies.”

Just because we're not a direct democracy doesn’t mean we’re not a democracy. The people still elect representatives; the people still vote on laws. It’s democracy — with guardrails. Stop pretending that “constitutional republic” means we’re not also a democracy. It's just another way to push the same tired anti-democratic talking points that have no place in America.

@grover_nat12749 Therefore the shutdowns are absolutely on Trump. He made a bad situation worse by calling it hoax and tens of millions believed him. He procrastinated using the Defense Production Act, he eventually used it but not in January like he should have.

Fast decisive leadership. Science based policy decisions. 80%+ masking up (we had the ability to mass produce more effective N95 masks for everyone). Virus spread slows down. Hospitals aren't overrun, no shutdowns
