Student today: "I don't think I can finish this on time."
Me: "How many more days do you need before you can submit something you're proud of?"
Them: "Um...two?"
Me: "Sounds good."
Them: "Will you take points off?"
Me: "Why would I do that?"
Them: 🤗
It's really that easy.
I just voted by mail for @JoeBiden and @KamalaHarris. If you're planning on doing the same, follow all the instructions carefully, and drop it in the mail or at a ballot drop box right away. Here, I’ll show you:
When politicians use faith as an excuse to pass and uphold laws that seize control of people’s bodies but not guarantee them healthcare, feed the poor, shelter the homeless, or welcome the stranger, you have to wonder if it’s really about faith at all.
I don't know who came up with this idea of teaching two cohorts of kids (some in person, socially distanced, some online) simultaneously but it's wrong. It's two jobs. It's not good for kids, and it's not good for teachers.

Strongly suggest teachers leave their asynchronous assignment due dates through the weekend instead of a Friday due date. Parents might only be able to help on weekends and kids need time to internalize the habit of managing and completing offline work.

Remote instructional schedules SHOULD NOT adhere to brick&mortar schedules
Teachers & students SHOULD NOT be required to sit in front of a computer for 6 hrs
Solution: Modified shorter remote instructional time blocks Learning can occur through asynchronous/unplugged activities
An important reminder from @MaggieBRoberts during our @KLSchools Knowing Our Readers Institute: “It’s going to be a long year if we are constantly panicked about a possible wider than typical skills gap. Instead we need to embrace our students where they are without judgment.”
Rep. Ocasio-Cortez: "Mr. Yoho mentioned that he has a wife and two daughters. I am two years younger than Mr. Yoho's youngest daughter. I am someone's daughter, too. My father, thankfully, is not alive to see how Mr. Yoho treated his daughter." https://t.co/U2UIEaCljG
