Crop too hot” is as an “ode” to slavery, the backbone of the CropOver festival.
The “Crop” being sugar cane.
Reference to the time 11:16 infers it’s the height of the sun’s heat which the slaves toiled in.
Squinting in such heat makes ones’s face look mean.
Mastaa T,the historian
“Holddddd On right hey fuh me!
Sit down right Dey fuh me!
Open up right now fuh me!”
These opening lyrics seek to explore the theme of slowing down, remaining present in the moment asking the listener to reveal their true self ,releasing their inhibitions.
LaStacia the sage.
Seeing kids jumping to some of the lyrics in these songs gives me the ick. With Junior Monarch having a soca section (and being tonight n all) the Junior artistes should be encouraged to record their songs and let the lil children jump to them.
Adding events that I didn't include in the video:
La Femme is this Friday at Kensington Oval. 100% soca. Showcasing all the female bajan artistes and some of their friends.
disappointment is weird because yes i want to forgive you, whole heartedly... but my mind is struggling to comprehend why would you ever think it was ok to do me like that
Me : …been feeling a little anxious recently Pops.
My Father : “Ya can't be in Charles Row Bridge St. George and wondering how ya gine cross the Swing Bridge in Bridgetown
Cross that bridge when ya get there” .
They say never meet your Heroes , but I’m glad my father exist.
Unpopular opinion: Not every single company in Barbados needs to go down the TikTok/trend type content. It’s not organic and feels very off brand in many instances
