The @InfoKfcb (KFCB), a State agency under the @SDY_Ke, mandated to regulate audio-visual content in the country, cautions that increased access to television, streaming platforms, social media, and online gaming may expose pupils and students to inappropriate content, which could negatively influence their behaviour, values, and overall development.
To this effect, @InfoKfcb, through its Consumer Advisory function, urges parents, guardians, and caregivers to closely monitor and guide children's audio-visual content consumption during the ongoing mid-term break, and guide them appropriately. The Board also reminds video-show and play station operators, gaming platforms, and film exhibitors to strictly adhere to content classification guidelines and ensure that children access only age-appropriate content.
To promote safe media consumption among minors and children, the @InfoKfcb encourages parents, caregivers, and guardians to set screen-time limits, use parental control tools, monitor online activity, promote educational and family-friendly content, and engage children, under their care, in discussions about what they watch. Parents are also advised to supervise online interactions and report harmful content to KFCB via [email protected].
The @InfoKfcb remains committed to enhancing parental awareness of emerging technologies through its Parents Digital Literacy Programme (PADIL), which equips parents, caregivers, and guardians with the skills to guide children in safely navigating the digital space. @NellyMuluka@Waziri_Mvurya@fikirini_jacobs@njogunjoroge1@WatotoWatchNet@MtotoNews@moyasa_ke@SpokespersonGoK

The @InfoKfcb (KFCB) has termed the regulation of audiovisual content as a vital enabler of a structured, ethical, and sustainable creative economy, underscoring its role in safeguarding consumers, enhancing content standards, and strengthening industry growth, rather than limiting creativity.
Speaking during a panel discussion themed โ๐๐๐ญโ๐ฌ ๐๐๐ฅ๐ค ๐ ๐ข๐ฅ๐ฆ ๐๐๐ฐโ held on June 12, 2026, at the Unseen Cinemas in Nairobi, the Board's Senior Legal Officer, Ms. Eunice Mwanza said the mandate of the KFCB to regulate the creation, distribution, possession, broadcasting, and exhibition of audiovisual content is not meant to stifle creativity but rather create a facilitative environment that supports the monetization of creative works.
โRegulation of audiovisual content is essential for fostering a structured, ethical, and sustainable creative ecosystem, as well as for protecting consumers, particularly children and vulnerable groups, from exposure to inappropriate and potentially harmful content,โ she stated.
While highlighting the facilitative role of KFCB in spurring the sector growth, Ms. Mwanza indicated that Board is implementing targeted interventions and initiatives aimed at strengthening regulatory compliance, enhancing industry awareness, safeguarding consumers, and supporting the growth and sustainability of the sector.
KFCB is a State agency under the State Department for Youth Affairs and Creative Economy , mandated by the Films and Stage Plays Act, Cap. 222, to regulate audiovisual content to ensure it aligns with Kenyaโs culture, moral values, and national aspirations, and to protect children and vulnerable audiences from inappropriate content. @Waziri_Mvurya@NellyMuluka@fikirini_jacobs@moyasa_ke@SDY_Ke@SpokespersonGoK@koske_felix
